Pregnancy

8.5 weeks, lack of pregnancy symptoms and anxious

Hi, I'm around 8.5 weeks pregnant but don't have any pregnancy symptoms. The last time I really felt exhausted was on Saturday but we were out shopping. I was really exhausted for the first couple of weeks with it coming and going, but now I feel relatively normal. I'm actually really worried that this isn't a good sign. I suffered a missed miscarriage already earlier this year. Again the only symptom I had was tiredness which subsided by week 7 and at 10.5 weeks I started to bleed, that scan showed that the baby hadn't grown past 6 weeks. I'm really worried that it may happen again. Is it normal to have little to no symptoms, and for tiredness to come and go? I haven't been able to see a midwife yet to discuss any concerns, and she's now on holiday. My doctor was pretty useless when I saw them at wk 6 and expressed concern then. What should I do? My friend keeps telling me to go to hospital and demand a scan.

is there an early pregnancy unit at your hospital? I had a scare recently and was able to talk to a lovely midwife who was really useful and told me that once I got past 7-8 weeks I could come in for a scan, if only to set my mind at rest and before that they could do blood tests to check my hormone levels. (Baby would be too tiny before 7wks to scan properly.)

Given your history I'm sure they'd understand your concern - and reducing your stress is important. Hugs.

I am 7 weeks pregnant and got no symptoms at all. I have suffered 3 mcs in the past so like you am extremely worried. I could go for an early scan but just can't face it so I'm going to try and hold out til 8 weeks.

everyone keeps telling me to think positive but its impossible

I recently had 2 m/c and had v few symptoms, so when I fell pg this time I was worried because I had v few symptoms, but the sickness did really kick about 8-9 weeks and lasted till 17 weeks - with my other two successful pregnancies symptoms kicked in at 7 weeks and stopped at about 14 weeks.

Tiredness this time round didn't really kick in till I was nearly 12 weeks, last two pg I was absolutely exhuasted from week 5, so pg can be completely different!

If you can get an early scan or HGC bloods taken then that might help reassure you.

Hi,

It is quite natural 2 lose symptoms at 8-9 wks as at the beginning of pregnancy you have a huge hormone surge and by 8-10 wks the placenta starts 2 take over and the surging of hormones calms down, this is why you lose your symptoms. This is what my MW has told me anyway. I am also a member on another site and only 2day somebody posted the thread 8 wks, loss of symptoms and worried. A lot of people responded and it seems this is a very common thing. If you are worried though contact your GP.

I think you should relax and enjoy! You might be just having a healthy pregnancy.... I had no morning sickness and was not tired at all... I had no cravings with the exception of eating more citrus fruit. My breasts were only mildly swallen. Occassionally, I had very minor cramps which didn't last for more than 10 minutes and were definitely not as painful as menstrual cramps.... That's it really. Now 16.5 weeks.

Having said this, if you are worried, then definitely go get a scan done. I had mine done privately at 8 weeks - was such a huge reassurance to see the little baby and hear his heartbeat!

Wishing you a great pregnancy!
