Hi - new to Mumsnet. Am between 15 and 16 weeks pregnant and feeling a little nervous. People keep asking if I have 'felt' the baby yet - and I haven't. All my symptons have gone - except tiredness and constipation! Should I be feeling the baby or am I worrying unnecesarily - help please

Hi, I'm just coming to the end of my 2nd trimester. Didn't feel the baby til about 20 weeks, and then not everyday. 2nd trimester was great as most symptoms had gone - enjoy it! Waiting to see what trimester 3 will bring...

Nope, don't stress. I was told in no uncertain terms (am 17 weeks) not to worry unless I hadn't felt baby at 25 weeks. First baby/good abs both mean you're likely to feel later.

When are you due? Have you found your antenatal thread yet?

There's an April thread here - that I'm on.

I'm just over 16 weeks with my first and haven't felt a thing. I also keep reading about people who have but it really is early for your first. Lots of people say they don't feel anything till 20+ weeks. Defo don't worry!

Don't worry, I didn't feel anything til about 20 weeks. It's difficult for a few weeks anyway as you haven't a clue what you should be feeling. Just wait til 30 weeks plus when baba is dancing on your bladder and kicking you in the ribs! Grin

Georgina, it is not at all unusual. I am pregnant with number 4 and 18+2 today and only just feeling flutterings (they say with pregnancies after first you should notice much earlier). TBH the feelings start almost like trapped wind (nice!!), little flutters in your lower tummy, they take quite a while to be recognised as definite movements, ie it won't feel like kicks. HTH.

Also if you are like me and have an anterior placenta it may muffle any movements early on. I am 23+1 and I still only feel very light movements but he was bouncing around like a mad boy at the scan.

I first felt the baby at 18 weeks, which apparently was quite early - so you have absolutely nothing to worry about I'm sure. Smile

I first felt mine at 16w, but I have friends who at are 21 and 22w and haven't felt anything yet, so perfectly normal. Congratulations - bet you can't wait for your 20w scan! It's so lovely to see them wriggling around again Smile

I'm 16 weeks just now and have been feeling tiny flutterings for a few days. I'm looking forward to being able to feel baby move strongly and frequently, as I feel like that will help to stop me worrying so much :)

My midwife at my appointent today said it would probably be quite a while before the movements can be felt strongly like that though.
