Pregnancy

Feel so awful. Had enough now.

I am 25 weeks now and still suffering from pregnancy sickness and to top it off I was up with diahorrea in the night, so I think I have a bug.

I didn't sleep well, have been only been able to drink water and eat biscuits and crisps today and have been napping on the sofa.

I have a HUGE pile of washing up to do, nothing to make for dinner (and I am NOT going shopping) and I have to do the school run in 40 mins. I give up, I cannot cope with this for much longer, I really need a week or two of feeling well instead of half dead. :(

Just needed to moan (as usual).

I am suffering from pregnancy nausea, not actual sickness (yet). Scuse typo.

Don't blame you for moaning- pregnancy is supposed to be a time of blooming loveliness isn't it and you sound like you're having a terrible time of it instead.

Can't really suggest much I'm afraid- do you think something like reflexology or acupuncture (cash permitting )might help?

Can you do something simple for dinner, get everyone off to bed early and then get yourself some rest as soon as you can.

I already gave dd pasta last night and them dp and I raided the cupboards. I feel like a bit of a failure.

I do want to try accupuncture, but I have just not had the energy to look into it. I will have to get my arse into gear and sort something out.

Pasta twice in two days won't kill her, or if you have eggs and cheese, would she like cheese omelette? Can DP pick something up on the way back from work?

Hope you feel better soon anyway.

waves to rocklover and gives big cyber hug.

Still no better? They don't warn you about all this horror before you get pg do they?! (I know you had it bad last time too).

Just wanted to say keep resting and don't worry about dinner - my freezer is full of ready food I give to DH for dinner every day as I've almost given up any hope of cooking much for the forseeable future (I'm usually a complete Deila making everything from scratch and a right food snob about not having ready stuff - it has been a life saver since getting pg!). In the grand scheme of her life DD will be fine with ready made stuff for a few months.

If you can manage it do give accupuncture of relfexology a go - I had another session of reflexology this morning :)

And the diorrhoea could be IBS again (??).

xx

hope you feel better soon x

I probably will do an online grocery shop this week, I do have stuff in the freezer, it's just dp and I keep forgetting to get it out to defrost (he's been ill too with a cold/chesty virus).

I did take dd swimming (in the next town along from us) for a couple of hours on Saturday as she needed to get out and I've got a feeling that's what's wiped me out. I actually felt decent on Saturday!

Me23, I know what you mean about crying on dp, I feel so guilty not being able to do stuff, especially as he works full time and I am a SAHM.

I would serve up ready meals, but dp isn't really that fond of them. I may nip out later and get one for dd, I also need some fruit and stuff for her packed lunches. Arghhh, there's so much that needs doing and I just don't feel like it.

Hi Angels, how are you doing at the moment?

hey rocklover,

just a thought - could you make massive catering sized home made things when you have a good day/time, like a big batch of meaty (or veggie) bolognese, and then freeze in induvidual portions and reheat and serve to make into easy quick meals when feeling ill. With bolognese you could make spag bol, shephards pie, pasta bake, chilli con carne (add a bit of chilli powder), lasagne etc etc. I used to do that alot - it's quite frugal too :)

You can get fresh veg ready prepared ready to stick straight into the microwave to heat up, and bagged salad has been a lifesaver for me. Cous cous salad is super easy - you can buy dreid cous cous with all the herbs etc already added and you just mix it with boiling water to cook it. Get some cooked marinated chicken pieces and stir in with cous cous for a easy home made (ish) meal. Oh - and that uncle bens microwave rice packets are great - I couldn't have got by without those! DH loves pastry so sometimes I buy ready made pre-rolled puff pastry and make him what I call savoury danish pastries (as I shape them like pretty pastries, but you don't have to!) by putting tom puree and cheese as a filling of a pesto, tomato and mozarella tart - I can make this with the pre-rolled pastry in less than 5 mins (but when I feel really sick cooking ANYTHING is impossible). Sometimes I make yorkshire pud batter earlier in the day when I feel good then leave it in the fridge all day, once DH is home I cook him a big yorkshire pud and fill it with cooked frozen veg, sausages and gravy - this is one of his faves Grin. These are prob things you've tried, but if you want any more angels' meal ideas let me know and I'll get my brain thinking!

Things here oK so long as I do nothing. Have a week of work left then GP has signed me off for another month so just taking away the stress of that has made me feel much happier in myself. I've had a sore throat/coldy feeling for the past couple of days and am so worried about getting ill - a cold I can handle no probs - but ANYTHING brings back my pg terribleness and I'm worried if I get under the weather with a potentially nasty buggy cold then it might make me feel really ill.

oh, and I bet it's the swimming that made you tired - it would definately make me feel terrible for a couple of days. It's hard to knwo your limits as I can feel fine when out, it's not until I get home and that evening or the next day that it catches up with me. Hopefully in a day or two you'll feel a bit better. x

I can sympathise too.... it is miserable isn't it! I can't believe I am now 35 weeks, but just hope my little one comes along soon, as I have totally had enough now!

This has been the longest 8 months of my life... just do anything to make things easier. Luckily enough I don't have any children, so when I am having a bad day I just have a jacket potato and let DH sort himself out. Online grocery shopping has saved my life as I seem to be fine actually shopping, but the minute I have to wait in a queue... that is it, feel dizzy and queasy - yuk!

Hope you feel better... but take care and take it easy if you dont

Gosh angels, I haven't tried any of those things, I have no imagination and i'm a very basic cook. You should come and teach me home ec, I'm desperate to be better at cooking!

Thanks Sam, I know how knackering the last weeks of pregnancy are, make sure you pamper yourself lots! And you get to meet your baby soon, that makes all the crap worth it, you forget all the discomforts very quickly....hence why I was able to get pg again lol!

rocklover - these are just a few lazy cheats minor shortcuts I use at home sometimes to give DH a sort of home cooked meal when I don't feel up to doing much. Yorkshire pud batter is definately the way to go if you feel up to making it during the day (won't take longer than 10mins) for a nice meal (in my experience ALL men love it!). Angels' tips for a good toad in the hole are to use a metal oven dish (not glass/ceramic as metal conducts heat better), put oil in the dish and put it in the oven to get it really hot first (otherwise batter will be heavy and soggy when cooked), take it out of oven and add batter/sausages and get it back in the oven as quickly as possible to keep everything hot and don't open the oven door during cooking.

We do toad in the hole in school where I teach (and use left over batter to make pancakes) but I don't really give them (students) any of my other cheats - I try and get them to learn how to do everything from scratch so at least they have the skills if needed.

Oh - what about macaroni cheese?

How are you feeling today? A bit better I hope. I felt terrible last night and had really bad heartburn, hoping I'll be a bit better today.
