Tiny bump at 24 weeks

Hello ladies,

24 weeks pregnant and my bump is tiny. Is this normal? I am feeling her kick and wriggle around but just a bit worried about the lack of bump. My bum is def expanding so i am wondering if she hiding in there instead. I am usually a size 10/12 and am still fitting into some of my 'bigger clothes'.

nelly are you just bragging?

If this is your first then it's not unusual to show later.

I'm 24 weeks with number 2 and to be honest I look like a house end. Enjoy your neat and tidy self, it'll probably all pop forward in the next few weeks. There's a woman at my office who's about 4 weeks ahead of me with her first and she looks like she's just had a big lunch.

As always go see your midwife if you're concerned, they see bumps in all shapes and sizes and will let you know if there is anything to worry about.

Hi Nelly. I had a minor meltdown yesterday because the free Bounty magazine which my MW gave me shows a bump profile on the 20 weeks pages which is HUGE compared to mine. DH did some very quick research and found out that it varies massively..! (Ours is baby #1 too).

Don't worry too much. I'm pregnant with my fourth and the smallest I was with any of them. Still wearing normal size 12 clothes (at 35 weeks pregs) and bump is still neat and tidy and measuring exactly on dates. With my others I was huge (and put on a lot of weight) so I figure it's just that I'm carrying very differently and haven't put on unnecessary weight.

i was only just starting to show at 24 weeks. Didn't really get a big bump until the last trimester. Was very frustrated at looking podgy and not pregnant at the time. On the plus side I was back into all my pre pregnancy clothes within 2 weeks of the birth so maybe it will be the same for you.

your mw should satrt measuring your bump from around the 24 week mark, so if there is a problem it will be picked up. also at your 12 and 20 week scan appointment they will have taken her measurements and told you if she was measuring too small. so stop stressing. Wink

you should enjoy being able to fit in to your wardrobe while you can i'm almost at the end, literally the size of a house and can't wait to fit back into my pre preg clothes

a friend of mine didnt need to wear maternity clothes at all through out her pregnancy, she just bought a bump band and carried on wearing her normal clothes Envy

Thank you ladies. I will stop worrying and make the most of not been 'big'- its just everyone elses comments when they see you send you on a paranoia trip. My mum said she didn't start showing until 6 months and she got back straight back into her normal clothes a couple weeks after the birth so hopefully i will take after her (hmmmmmm wishful thinking) x

Hey Nelly,

A friend of mine didn't show much until past her month 7 with baby 1! She was a size 12 before pregnancy and about 5'7".

The only explanation they could come up with was that her uterus was expanding vertically instead of sticking out! Don't you worry. Enjoy your pregnancy :)

I'm 20 weeks, and just look like I've had a big lunch...but I'm 5,9. My sister is 5'4 and looked huge when she was 20 weeks.... :0
