Nux vomica for morning sickness?

Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm starting to be really fed up with feeling sick all the time, and my sister (who lives in Germany) mentioned that a lot of her pregnant friends over there have taken this with great success. But I can't seem to find any good source of information on the web or where to buy it...

I went into the health food store locally and they sold this to me saying it would help morning sickness but tbh I was too scared to take it as then mw told me NOTHING was proved safe in first tri of pg except folic acid and went to great pains to also tell me this included all homeopathic medicines(but then, with hindsight, she was also of the school that I shouldn't be taking anti sickness pills the doc prescribed due to my horrific nausea and told me epidurals we the work of the devil (though not in these words obv!)). So it's up to you. I can't offer personal knowledge that it helps ms or that it's safe, only that my local health food shop sold it to me as something to take specifically for morning sikness and seemed to think it was fine.

They certainly won't do you any harm, as homeopathic nux vomica pills are made of only sugar and water. There is no active ingredient in them at all. They may have a placebo effect, of course.

Can you tell I'm not a fan of homeopathy?!

If your sickness is really bad, there are things your doctor could prescribe. It is really miserable. I do feel for you - I had it really badly till 20 weeks with this PG. Hopefully it will go away earlier for you!

I take Nux Vomica drops whenever I feel nauseous (I'm not pregnant, but I often have a problematic digestion...)

It works! I'm not a great fan of homeopathy, but Nux Vomica really works for me.

Everything is worth a try, don't think it helped much for me though.

:-)
Thanks everyone - I'm usually not a believer of homeopathy either, on the contrary! Just getting really fed up! And it's not that I'm completely crippled with sickness either, just feel more or less nauseous all the time (without actually throwing up, only being on the verge of it, which is almost worse than actually having to puke, I'm beginning to think).
To be honest, I'm just a big wuss with no backbone - only 7 weeks pregnant, and already feeling sorry for myself!

I suffered terribly with morning sickness with all 3 pregnancies the last being the worst. i tried nux vom remedy with my first i got them from health food shop where they assured me they were safe to take but they didnt help much unfortunately!

I used sea bands accupressure wrist bands from boots- wore them literally 24/7 for first 5 mnths! not sure if they helped although i told myself id have been worse if hadnt worn them!

frequent small bland snacks helped, toast, plain biscuits etc and tiny sips of water or sometimes a fizzy drink helped if sipped slowly.

If you can try to get plenty or rest, sleep, lie down or just relax and read or watch tv if poss, i found my 3rd pregnancy the worst due to the fact i just couldnt get any rest which made the sickness worse.

when you feel really bad look up in a preg book or website and read about your stage of preg, it takes your mind off it by making you realise the wonderful reason for the sickness!

I had to in the end get medication for the sickness, dr prescribed prochlorperazine and although i was reluctant to take it in the end i couldnt manage and gave in, it doesnt harm the baby i was assured but it didnt make much diff to sickness levels only helped very slightly.

it will pass and suddenly one day you will wake up and feel loads better, mine started to improve after 14 weeks and at 20 weeks had gone.at the time it feels awful and the feeling sick took over my life but it does get better and it is def worth it!!!!

good luck, hope you feel good again soon.

Thanks, ariane5. I'm also wearing the acupressure bands all the time, not sure if they actually do help, but not willing to test it out!
Eating is about the only thing that helps, at the moment I'm having my first snack while still in bed. Unfortunately, I seem to need quite 'heavy' foods (bread, cheese, pasta) to keep the sickness at bay, just nibbling on some nuts or a salad doesn't do it! Which is driving me crazy because I'm used to really watching what I eat! Not being in control of that is making me really uncomfortable... I know it's not the time for losing weight or dieting, but I've already starting putting on weight because of it - can't do my usual excercise regime because of the sickness. It's a vicious circle...

Metaclopramide works much better than anything homeopathic ever will...

Try some sugary sweets to suck. I used to spend loads of money on homepathic remedies to help my IBS-related nausea, back in the days before I knew what homeopathy was (or wasn't). And then I found it was just the sugar that was helping - Pret cheesecake and old fashioned sweets helped me just as much.

Cold slices of apple or cold grapes with a piece of cheese helped me sometimes actually... sorry you're feeling pants, it's so grim.

yes carbs seem to help the most toast, biscuits etc just eat whatever you can manage that helps as some food is better than no food regardless of how healthy/unhealthy it is.when you are feeling better you can start your 5 a day again.at the moment its just getting the calories in that counts and make sure you drink water even just sips every so often
