Hi all,

Meita - well done for being so dedicated, all that feeding, then expressing, then feeding some more can be utterly exhausting. You'll probably find that the expressing on top of the breast feeds will increase your supply and hopefully mean that once your little battler is better you'll be able to reduce that amount of formula/EBM give via a bottle. Hope your breast feeding consultant is full of useful tips and support.

I'm not a regular poster, more of a stalker!! I keep up to date with the news and I'm so glad it is mostly fabulous news all round!

DH and I have booked a last minute holiday for this week, we will be in the sun for our wedding anniversary which is the same date as my due date for the first baby we lost. So glad we are marking the date as I am feeling a bit delicate.....make that pathetic!

Wishing you all well and I'll see you in a couple of weeks (when I'd better have one of those legendary pregnancy tans!!!!!)

Hi all x

Just marking my place on our shiny new thread.

Since my appointment with the MW at my GP surgery last week, I've received TWO requests for booking in appointments with two completely separate practices. The first is with my local MW in the suburb of Manchester in which I live, which is where I had my appts with my last pregnancy. The second is an appointment in the ante-natal clinic in North Manchester General. Which is miles away and v. odd given I live approx 5/10 mins from St Mary's Hospital which is the main hospital in Manc. Confused

Hopefully it will just be a case of cancelling one, but bloody hell, when my MW said she would try and get me through the system quickly, I wasn't expecting to be this in demand. :)

Anyway, hope everyone is well. Still wavering over the reassurance scans...

Viv xx

Just saying a quick hello too. I've got a stinking cold and have spent most of the weekend sniveling and sniffing on the sofa. My skin is also looking decidedly spotty so I am feeling particularly unattractive. So far my skin has been really nice and clear throughout this pregnancy- what's going on? I'm supposed to be blooming god damn it!
Hi malteser, a holiday in the sun sounds lovely and that is nice that you will be away somewhere doing something together for the due date. What is a legendary pregnancy tan- do you tan better when you're pregnant? Me and my DP had talked about going away for some sun in October but luckily we didn't book anything as my low lying placenta means I am not allowed to take any flights. So no romantic, exotic holidays for me for er, well a bloody long time...!
Viv, glad they are looking after you, although that does seem odd giving you an appointment at a hospital miles away.
I was just wondering- does everyone else have only the one midwife that they are assigned to throughout their pregnancy? I am slightly out of area for my hospital (despite it being nearer and much quicker to get to than any other hospital) so only had the option of being given the care of a team of midwives, meaning I see different ones every time I go for an appointment. Sometimes I wish I just had the one midwife that I would know who to stalk call when I needed advice.
Right, I'm off to the supermarket to get the dogs dinner and a new box of tissues,

Ooooo nice new thready!

Had a shopping spree on maternity clothes today as I am so uncomfortable in what is left of my normal stuff and some of my old maternity clothes are just crap. Also bought some Tiny Baby vests/sleepsuits (know it's still early but couldn't resist!) Am also very grateful for the can of caffine free diet coke in my Bounty pack! LOL!

dorcas I am also acne ridden :( Treat yourself to a nice face pack and a lay down with some nice candles x Hope you are feeling better soon.

Have a lovely holiday Malteser !

Hi all

am popping over from April 2011 thread as I am feeling feeling a bit down. This is my 3rd pregnancy and am 9+6. Had a miscarriage in november last year at around the 7 week mark but fortunately have a dd who is now 3.4. Have had browny/pink mucus when wiping for the last 5 days, starting the day before I had my booking in appointment - midwife didn't seem bothered and at that point neither was I, but as the days have gone on I'm starting to worry, especially today as there has been more and just now I had some bright red blood, no mucus just blood. Have put a pad on and am expecting the worst Sad Haven't really had much in the way of symptoms this way round just feeling a bit tired really with only about 2 or 3 instances of feeling ever so slightly sick, but only lasting 10 minutes or so. I have been taking it easy and decided that lack of sickness was just how this pregnancy was going to be. Now I'm thinking that I'm going to miscarry. Not sure what to do really. Should I phone midwife and see what she says? Am with Thames Team at St. Thomas and they are, on the whole, rather fab. Shall I just leave it and see how it goes over the next couple of days. No pain as of yet and Blush just checked pad and no blood on it. Sorry for long post, just wanted to get it off my chest really

Hi misswoowoo _ sorry you are feeling like this :(- This is not someting I have experience of myself - but would suggest that you call your local EPAU? Don't sit and be worried about it, you need to take care of yourself x

On a positive note - there is a lady on here who had a bleed around the 6 week mark, and her baby is just fine.

Some of the other more experinced ladies will be along shortly to offer you more advice xx good luck:)

Hi misswoo Bleeding can be caused by lots of things- I agree with battery worth speaking to your mw or direct to your epau if you don't need a referral to get an early scan. I hope all goes well for you - take care.

viv do you think you've been put down for consultant led care as well as mw-led which is why they both want to see you?

malteaser lovely to hear from you- have a fab holiday!

dorcas poor you- I hate having a cold when of- I'm a big fan of medication!

Hello everyone, have been busy with overwhelming tiredness. So am reading and cheering all the good news, but very little energy at the moment. May need to go back on the vits again as almost3rd trimester now.

Also had trapped nerve in back, which osteopath released today, so still tender, but not screaming in pain with the stabbing each time I move. Poor DH had to look after me, which he finds hard as he worries, and DS1 also picking up on things. Pre Osteo DS1 brought me his blanket to 'help mummy better' bless him.

Only 5 weeks until maternity leave now! Wow! This pregnancy seems to be flying by, aside from the niggles.

Love to all Bunny xxx

Hello you lovely lot. Sorry not been around much, just horribly busy at work then crashing in the evenings, and those weekends just seem to fly by...

Bunny you lucky thing starting mat leave early, I jut worked out mine won't start till 24th November so I still have 9 weeks to go - at least it's in single figures though! Grin

Not much news at Gilda HQ - been quoted £4600 to replace our knackered 15 year old boiler Shock and realised that today would have been my due date. Not feeling too bad about it as this little one is dancing about in my nethers and I wouldn't want to be without it.

Sparing thoughts for those who aren't on this list yet but who by all rights of the universe should be. Sad

Hope to catch up with y'all properly soon.

PS Buffers I just KNEW you'd end up with a pup! Grin

Sending super easy birth vibes to TFLS

MissWooWoo second everyone's advice to phone MW or epau (if you know the details) - they're used to women phoning with issues like this, and will hopefully send you for a reassurance scan.

Gi1da it's when I hear scary figures like that I'm glad we rent, rather than own! There's no way we could manage something like that.

Magic8 I broke out the maternity wear yesterday - mainly because I had no clean laundry!

Dorcas I've got a cold too, and am feeling crappo. Combined with DS having a cold and DP having worked for the past 15 days on the trot (7am-8pm) and me being on lone parent duty, we're all feeling a bit run down chez Hopefully at the moment.

Still no scan appointment - MW said I should get appointment through the post early this week. Am now 12+3, and I think I'll phone a check availability for a private scan tomorrow if no appointment has arrived by then. It's so frustrating, as I really look like I had one too many bacon butties, and I want to be able to tell everyone I'm actually pregnant! On the other hand, it means that in some ways this pregnancy is going quicker, as I don't feel 'officially' pregnant until I've told everyone. Hmm Grin

Report
VivClicquot · 21/09/2010 14:30

misswoowoo - another one here saying give your local EPU a call, or if you don't want to mess around or wait, then just turn up and ask to be seen. Certainly my local EPU are happy to see people who are worried enough to turn up (within reason, of course!) so I'd definitely encourage it. That's what they are there for, after all.

At the same time, my best friend is currently pg (I think around the 16 week mark) and I know she bled continuously from 5 weeks until 12 weeks, but every scan so far has shown a happy little bean. Fingers crossed all is well with you x

bunny - hope that's the end of the back issues for the rest of the pregnancy. Sounds horrendous.

I called my MW this morning and asked about the two appointments - she said the one for North Manchester was a mistake, and that she would call them to sort it out. So easily sorted in the end! :)

Much love to everyone else xx

I had my booking in appointment on Friday - seems all a bit real now.

Need to wait on scan appointment from local hospital now and also have to see a consultant to discuss my options as both DD's ended up with me having a 3rd degree tear - not pleasant...........

I am now in maternity wear and am looking decidely pregnant so am just ignoring the stares at work - have to be reasonably presentable in an office environment unfortunately!

Just need to take it day by day I guess and hope this bean sticks around Smile

I am sooooo tired, DS has last but one molar cutting at the moment, and I was too tired to realise he might need calpol when he woke several times last night

I suppose I'm a bit late to wish you a happy holiday Malteser, but hope you get that lovely tan.

misswoowoo would second getting yourself a reassurance scan -- early scans can be difficult to get in some areas but very rare they'll say no if you've had bleeding, as others have said, it can all be normal, but you need to know that for sure.

Anyone else debating early scans? Viv? other first trimester ladies? (brian's gone, can't remember who else was having this dilemma) -- I was definitely in the 'give me as many scans as possible' camp. Worried like mad before each and every one, but MC in Feb was 4 weeks after it had all gone wrong, and I was still sick and very tired all that time, I decided I would rather have known sooner. Added to which the odds do improve the later it gets, I know it's no guarantee, but it certainly helped me to know I'd got a bit further successfully each time. I was lucky to have an inexpensive clinic nearby though and was able to pay for 8 wk, 10 wk and 12wk scans.
Still worry now mind you...

TFLS that was an amazing post towards the end of the last thread, getting all your name-checking in before it's impossible with a little one? I'm looking forward to hearing that labour is going to be fine despite our advancing years.... I do hope it all goes really well for you. btw, is there going to be a Totally's grads post-natal thread? Feels like it would be rather sad to lose touch with you all in a few months time after everything we've been through... or even a thread on general chat to include those who, as Gilda so beautifully says, aren't on this list yet but who by all rights of the universe should be.

Good to see you btw Gilda, shocking boiler quote! Have you shopped around? Hugs for due date, I thought I was ok with mine but must admit I did feel very blue for a good few weeks afterwards. I do think it wasn't just the pregnancy hormones. It was really sad. Somehow I think I'll be ok with second MC dates, but that one was really really early, over before it began, so hadn't had so much time, with MMC, I'd had problems early on, then an ok scan, then started to bond........... I kind of needed that blue phase to grieve again, for me quite important and I'm glad I went through it so I can process it properly before this little one comes along, so the could-have-beens don't hang over me. I'm probably making no sense as a little sleep deprived, has anyone else felt somehow similar and can articulate it better? Suffice to say a few good crys recently have been cathartic.

SamB when do you see the consultant? Tomorrow? I'm thinking of you every time I see a Pembury road sign (a lot...) if we don't hear anything do we assume they've kept you in and it's all go? My induction at Pembury with DS was absolutely fine, I had a really lovely registrar and the midwives in the delivery suite were fantastic. Wishing you all the very very best if it's all happening this week!

Hopefully good luck for getting that scan, and good luck that all will be good news at the scan.

Liahgen, where are you? I am still crossing my fingers and hoping your 12 week scan was good news........ you're so quiet

Sorry to everyone else I haven't namechecked -- thinking of you all, I'm just a bit crap, brain addled and sleep deprived...

Alba I sat and watched DS be miserable for most of Sunday before it occurred to me that some calpol might improve things (he had a cold, with a bit of a temp). He was a million times better once he was drugged, but it's been so bloody long since he was last ill/teething, that it really didn't occur to me!

Penguin I have an appointment at 15 weeks with consultant to discuss 3rd degree tear with DS. I have already decided not to attempt natural delivery again (I think I decided about 24 hours after giving birth that if I wasn't getting a CS then DS was going to be an only child! Luckily consultant at 6 week check agreed), and MWs are in favour, so I'm not anticipating any problems - I've heard from lots of people that CS recovery is more straightforward than the 3rd degree tear, cervical tear and PPH I had. [ouch]

I have just popped in to let those of you who remember me from 'just MC' know that I've had a BFP today (day 24 of cycle) on a first response.

I'm not yet ready to join this thread, but am hopefully marking my place (without jinxing) but just wanted to share my news with some of my old buddies :) Very very early days, but hope to see you here in about nine weeks time!

Woop woop hairy... we'll be saving you a space. Hope all is quiet (and come along a bit sooner if you like!) over the next 9 weeks.
