What time of day did your waters break?

I was just wondering if there was an average time of day for the waters to break/you go into labour?

My mom's waters broke in the early hours of the morning with both my sister and I, and this seems to be true for most people I have spoken to (well late at night, early hours !)

My husband is a little concerned that his commute to work is just over an hour door to door and he doesn't want me to be on my own! (he is a bit of a worrier!) I have to go to hospital as soon as I go into labour so there's no waiting at home for a while!

I know it's completely random but I just wondered other peoples times........

(Can you tell I don't have a lot to do today?! Actually I have heaps to do, just nothing I want to do!!)

mine went just before I gave birth. However, I had the first twinges of labour at midnight each of the three times.

Apparently 9/10 women are already having contractions by the time their waters break so chances are they won't go unexpectedly. But as one of the 1/10 of women whose waters break first, here's my experience!:

DC1: 7pm
DC2: 4pm
DC3: 10.30pm

I don't know if this is true or not but I'm told most women go into labour overnight i.e they wake up in the small hours in labour.

Same as soupy

first time was in hospital

Second time at home just before giving birth in hospital about twenty minutes later, lol

for a first timer it'll happen slower so don't worry
the midwife often breaks the waters in hospital

Both mine were before any contractions started.

at exactly 3 am both times, contractions started later.

That's what I thought Owl wondered how much truth was in it!
I guess really my question is what time of day did you go into labour rather than when did your waters break as I know waters aren't always the first sign, if they break at all!

apparently you produce more oxcytocin in the dark, so that is why you are more likely to go into labour at night. Apparently, most animals go into labour at night for this reason. This information came from our NCT teacher though, and I often think she is talking rubbish........

dd1 and dd2 didnt; dd3 whilst I was in the hairdressers watching dd2 having her hair cut. First a spot, then a trickle, then a flood....the hairdresser's didnt give me any free haircuts though!

My waters had to be broken by MW, and as soon as they were, DD literally shot down the birth canal (I felt her drop, very odd) and my excruciating 17hr back-to-back labour was over in 45 mins.

I went into labour at midnight on the dot, our NCT teacher told us what DonaldDraper says. But judging from all the responses here, you just never know...

My contractions started mid-morning, v slow stop/start labour so waters didn't go until the following evening at about 8pm, DD born 4 hours later.
