where to buy maternity tights?

autumn looms and i'm going to need some blaque opaque maternity tights soon, preferably 40 denier. but where to get them?
went to huge flagship M+S store in London today and though they had every other type of tights under the sun - i mean, literally hundreds of varieties offering to slim your thighs/bum/make you look like Elle McPherson/whatever there were no maternity tights at all! Shock Angry An entire section of the population of women entirely uncatered for. What's a pregnant lady to do? Mothercare?

I got a pair of 60 denier black maternity tights from mothercare - £6 for one pair. IIRC they also did 40 denier ...

Or try www.stockingsdirect.co.uk/maternity-tights.html

It's where I get my plus-sized tights from, being a fatso. They also do maternity.

I got some at H&M a couple of years ago, and they were better than the Mothercare ones I tried (that makes it sound as though I tried them on and then didn't buy them; alas, I wasted my money on them). Can't remember what denier they were, though.

I got some in Peacocks for £2.50 (half price!) and they are black 70 denier. Unfortunately they only had one pair in my size but I'm definitely on the lookout for more as they are really comfy.

Hi sotough, I managed to get some from m & s last week, though they took some finding. Black 40 den maternity ones merchandised with regular tights. Hard to spot in the sea of versions you mention.
Happy shopping!

I've just got some from H&M, £5 for two pairs and seem good, though I'd buy bigger than think you might need. Also spotted black ones in Debenhams the other day, about the same price I think.

Would agree about the H&M tights- they are good but the sizing is a wee bit small. Am on the lookout for tights too- come September I live in tights throughout the colder months and will have a couple of months of autumnal clothes before Bean comes along

Got some nice ones in Mothercare - very comfy and roomy. Think they were about £5, but they look quite durable (hopefully - managed to keep dog paws off them so far!)

I have maternity tights from M&S... I don't know why the flagship didn't stock them?! Did you ask an assistant? They are black and 40 den. Not cheap (£6 a pair) but pretty good (i.ee they don't fall down!). I have been wearing them for months and they are indestructible - no pilling or laddering etc.

I got some in M&S as well, they weren't stocked with the rest of the tights but were in the bra section, which of course makes perfect sense.
