Irritable uterus

Hi,

I posted on here over a week or so about is this normal at 30 wks?

I was having what I thought was Braxton hicks. Anyway I'm now 31 plus 4 and had an anti-natal appoitment yesterday. I ended up being taken to delivery suit due to tightenings every few seconds, they put me on a monitor did an examination and was told cervix were closed but I had an irritable uterus and that this could cause premature labour. I was sent home and told that if I felt parcetamol was not working then to come back.

Was wondering if anyone else had similar experiences, as I'm quite worried now. Thanks for reading x

Forgot to mention midwife said the head is down but I believe that baby can move in and out of this position, also everytime I stand up the weight down below is like a pulling sensation is this normal? x

No experience of irritable uterus, but My DS1 was born at 30 + 5 and apart from being small he was perfectly fine.

watersprite i was told i had irritable uterus with DS1 wasn't told anything about premature labour in fact DS was 10 days late!! I just thought it meant you were more aware of stretching pains and and other niggly pains!?!

I was told that I had an irritable uterus when I went in for monitoring at around 36/37 weeks. The monitor showed that I was actually contracting at around 20/30% every 3 or 4 minutes, and the midwife was amazed that I couldn't feel them. I was completely oblivious to any tightening and convinced myself that I had a high pain threshold. I can now confirm that I don't and the gas and air had to be physically wrenched from my hands even with a full epidural in place!

I went on to deliver at 40+3, so didn't do anything to bring on my labour any earlier than would have been expected.

sam26oscar The midwife said that the irritable uterus can cause contractions to come on early and cause premature labour, when I asked what could be causing this she told me a UTI, consipation or the constant ongoing thrush I have due to being on long term antibiotics. x

Tattycatty thats good to hear that it didn't bring on your labour early x
