Hello, my son is 2 years old and showing signs of wanting to use the potty/toilet. I bought a very cheap IKEA potty and left it out for him to get used to it. He's started to sit on it and kind of understands the concept, but I think his little bottom is too big for the IKEA potty!! No quicker has he sat on it, he gets up from it - im guessing its uncomfortable for him

Soooooo.............. I was hoping someone might be kind enough to send me their potty recommendations

Thanks
XX

my recommendatin is: no potty.

Just get one of those little loo seats that goes over your own, and a step. I never used our potty for potty training!

Yep smaller loo seats are better for big bums. However Boots do a bigger potty than normal. But everyone will think you are buying it for you so I would sincerely recommend the seat insert.

But sit down/get up is normal for the start of potty training. The trick is to read books/sing/feed chocolate buttons for increasing amounts of time providing there is an arse in contact with seat or potty!

OK so for the time being I'll carry on with the potty and move onto a loo seat! Any recommendations for good loo seats?

Thanks x

Get one with handles, they like to hold on. The soft ones are a bugger to clean and fall to bits after a year (although hopefully you'll be done in a year )

Boots again sell them, as do mothercare, John Lewis, M&P etc. Make sure you get one which fits your loo though - we have a very posh downstairs suite which has a round loo (most loos are actually oval) and we had to get a special (expensive) one to fit.

DeFinately do the loo seat thing. My dd hates the potty I don't think she likes the position but likes being up on the toilet. I got a potette travel potty so i had a trainer seat and a travel potty and didn't have to buy 2 things and it has sort of handles to hang on to. She also seems to find it quite comfortable.
