Any tips for ds pottytraining

My 2 year and 8 months ds has just started potty training. I thought he was ready as he always tells us when he wants to do a poo and when it is bathtime he is always desperate to sit on the potty and do a wee. I have now put him in proper pants and suddenly he doesn't want to go near the potty and just stands and does a wee all over the floor when I have asked him 10 seconds before if he needs a wee and he says no. I am trying to stay calm but it is so difficult. We have only been doing it one morning but had 4 accidents before 8am (he had drunk a lot of water). Don't know if this means he just isn't ready or if he is being stubborn. I am told by everyone that once you start you should carry on with it and not go back to nappies but I am so tempted - I also have a 1 year old daughter so am also running after her and feel I can't concentrate properly on potty training ds. Any advice or tips would be great.

When you ask him you trigger his awareness that he needs to go and then he can't hold it anymore. Don't ask, take him to the toilet. (I.e. don't phrase it as a question.)
