Daughter is 27 months & were attempting to potty train as she doesn't want to wear nappies & is taking them off etc.

She will sit on potty but it seems she struggles to actually wee on it.. she'll sit on there for ages then stand to wee & watch it!

Any tips?
Thanks

When does she wee if not on the potty? Does she sit on it for ages and then get up and wee somewhere else or what? I'm assuming she understands what's it for and she can tell you what it's for and that kind of thing?

Sit her on there with an iPad and walk away- just ask her to shout for you when done. Don’t stand and watch, no pressure. Just a simple “when you’ve done your wee we will: go out/ play in the garden etc”.

@MeadowHay yes so yesterday she sat on potty for a good hour watching a film, drank loads so I knew she'd need a wee then got up & did it in corner & said oh no mummy mess....I genuinely dont think she knows how to 'let go' on potty! 🤔
Yes she knows all language related to potty/toilet & will pretend to wee then wipe & flush then wash hands
Had 2 successful poos but she's often constipated so I can tell when it's going to happen

How long do you leave her? My little one was on the potty for a good 20mins the first couple of times.
I also stopped asking “do you need the loo”...wake up and on the toilet.
Before we go out “let’s go toilet then we’ll go out”...no rewards no pressure- just this is what we do, no rushing them either

I think I'd park it and try again in say two months time if she's not doing any wees on it at all. Or just keep it out for poos and keep her otherwise in nappies and see if she moves from doing the poos on it to starting to want to do wees on it and then ditch the nappies at that point?

With dd I made a game of it with 'what noise does a wee wee make?'. Don't know if it works if someone else does it, but you could try whistling.

Sit her on it in the bathroom and turn the tap on, the sound of running water is said to make you want to wee.
