Potty training

Scared we will fail again this week

We tried the Gina Ford method of potty training in September with my daughter who is now 3 yrs 3months. She was completely stressed by it and By day three she was refusing to eat, drink and hadn't pooed at all.
We are trying again this Friday and I'm scared she will start this again. She is more open to the idea but still says she wants her nappies. Til now she wouldn't entertain the idea of trying again! I'd like to know what yo do if she does it again? When do we give up? My husband has taken Friday and Monday off to look after the baby so I can focus on doing lots of fun arts projects with her and potty training.

Bit too long to describe but basically in pants and try them in potty every 16 mins

Read the oh crap method. Ds2 has had 3 wees all day today. Every 16 minutes is ridiculous.

Why on earth are you considering a regime that put so much stress on your child?! There are others out there!

That method sounds shit (excuse the pun).

Read and implement the oh crap method.

I think if she hates being put on the potty every 15 mins then don't do that technique. I didn't read a book I just asked my dd if she needed a wee often and cleaned up any accidents with a reassuring 'Nevermind'. Oh and a sticker chart

I read the oh crap book and my little one has done amazingly well. I didnt follow it to the letter but it really helped me go in with a positive mindset. 3 weeks in and we probably have a couple of accidents a week but otherwise great! And this was a toddler who got hysterical if I tried to leave her nappy off for even a few mins. Highly recommend :)

Having worked with under 5s for 20yrs I'd wait until she was ready, which it sounds like she isn't.
She's not asked to go nappy free or sit on the potty. Sitting her on the potty every 16 minutes isn't going to do anything other than stress you all out.
She may well be 'trained' in a week but in 6 months she'll regress as she wasn't ready in the first place.

Look up Gina Ford .... Her methods are controversial and I personally would not be guided by her....
