How to begin potty training

Hi All,

My Daughter is 2 and a half. We have a little potty for her at home, but it's never been used apart from pretending all of her teddies are having a wee/poo. She's sat on it a couple of times and pretended to use it, but never actually used.

They have mentioned in nursery that she's really interested when the other toddlers go to the potty, and that she seems like she really wants to give it a go etc.

I have absolutely no idea where to begin. Not the slightest idea how you might go about beginning potty training.

Help.

Thanks!

My DD was a little younger when I potty trained her but we bought her a book: Princess Polly Potty I think. And let her be naked from the waist down.
Rewarded every wee with a chocolate button and every poo with two!
This worked for us quite quickly.

Just go for it!

Ditch the nappies / pull ups, get her in a pair of nicks and crack on.

She will have accidents but that's how she will learn - nappies / pull ups don't allow for the nasty sensation of being wet!

Loads of changes of outfits in a bag for a week or so and then you will be sorted!

Good luck 🍀

My daughter wouldn't use a potty but would go to the toilet, however we did the same as others have said put her in knickers took her to the toilet every half hour and just kept at it, she soon got the hang of it

Great, thank you!

I have wondered if she will be more of a "toilet" girl than a potty as she's very independent and likes to copy what Mum & Dad do.

Still haven't gained the balls to begin potty training, but soon!
