Hi there, first time user here so please be nice Smile
I'd like a bit of advice with my daughter who I'm trying to potty train ( 2 years 8months). We've introduced her potty a few weeks ago, she loves weeing and pooing on it although doesn't remember to use it every time.
The problem is, she is adamant she doesn't want to wear knickers! We've tried peppa pig ones, going with her to choose them, also tried potty training nappies (the ones where they feel wet).
Each time she says that she wants her nappy and or that she doesn't want the knickers. Tried all the usual, trying to make the knickers feel special, calling them big girl knickers etc.
She's quite particular with new clothes and very stubborn with what she likes.
I'm not sure how we can progress with the nappy training if she won't stop wearing nappies?

"Nappies are only for night time now darling, now get your pants on so we can go out to the park/nursery/have breakfast/get some toys out/put CBeebies on/whatever works for you".

Just go cold turkey, get rid of the nappies, don't have them in the house. If they are not there she can't wear them. Put a couple of pull ups in her pyjama drawer for naps and bedtime.
She might be cross and ask for them for a day or two but she'll forget about them in a day or two.

She sounds like she's doing great much better than ds at that age! I'd progress to pull ups if I were you then May be have Santa take them and leave toys in their place ?
I wish ds had embraced the potty so easily, he's 5 now and those days are long gone but it was a nightmare

Hi OP. That's great that she's using the potty so well! Personally, I'd use a similar approach to getting rid of the nappies as some people use for bottles, dummies etc. Pack them up and tell her the nappies are needed for babies elsewhere and she can swap them in return for something special (toy of her choice etc) as a thank you. Then the choice in the morning is knickers or nothing. Heaps of praise for trying them on and keep sticking to the story that the nappies are 'gone'.

Thanks everyone for your advice! Think we will try pull ups for a few days then go cold turkey as suggested!
Wish me luck!!! 😁👌
