Potty training

Day 3 of Potty today! What do we do when we go out?

DS started asking for potty 2 days ago out of the blue. So out with the nappies and in with potty and pants. One accident in 2 days which is blooming amazing. My question is what do we do when we go out? The weather today is glorious so wanted to hit the park. Do we take potty with us?? Or put nappy on him whilst out?
Hope it's not a dumb question we are just clueless as to the best approach for 'out of the house'

Thanks in advance

We stayed close to home. Didn't want to confuse by going back to nappies.

Was prepared for a 'wild wee' situation but we're a bit rural so plenty of bushes to hide behind at the park.

Took spare clothes and wipes everywhere

Had a seat for the big toilet when on adventures further afield.

have him go before you leave and if you don't have a portable potty bring a potty and nappy bags to tip the waste into.

plus a bottle of water to wash it out. can dilute and tip behind a bush if no one judgy about or you're just in the woods etc.

Depends on the park. If it's a public transport trip I'd put him in a pull up and go to the loo before you leave, if it's close by I'd risk it in pants, just bring spares and a happy in case he suddenly needs a poo, and introduce him to the exciting boy game of weeing onto bushes Smile

We also never bothered with the potty, it just makes an extra step to do with the toilet. Even when little they can use a public toilet by sitting on the edge of the seat and holding you.

I would have skipped potty but he's afraid of the toilet (yes we do have the seat you put on the toilet) but he's not yet open to that 😅 we don't have woodland around so it would be a normal park (with families and dogs around) and we would drive there.

when i was potty training my daughter i went to places with easy access to the toilet like the park with a toilet there.Or a small indoor playpark with good facilities.Eventually getting used to using the toilet wile out and moving up to a walk around town with nearby toilets.
