Ok so after weeks and weeks of tantrums over nappies being changed, I've bit the bullet and attempting to potty train.

However my LG is 17 months. Am I crazy for even contemplating it at this age ? We've tried all the usual things, but nothing works. I'm constantly wrestling with her :(

2 days in we've had 3 poos in potty, a poo and pee and 2 pees. This has been when I've been watching her like a hawk and sat her in the potty myself. About 6 pees on the floor.

Tonight I saw she went to sit on the potty her self but her pull up nappy was on. I helped her but she didn't do anything.

Do I keep going ? What's everyone else's experience ? Anyone else started potty training at this age ?

It's not impossible for a child to potty train at this age, but in all honesty do you think she is ready?

My dd potty trained at 19 months, pretty much by herself- couple accidents. She had language to discuss, explain and request, and I knew she was ready as she would only poo at home, so was controlling it.
If you have system (word, sign etc) for potty, and maturity to understand, just give it a go.

The oh crap! book recommends a window of 18-30 months to potty train so not far off! I trained DD at 22 months, would've done 20 (she was ready) but I was heavily pregnant and didn't want to risk her regressing when baby came.
