Help? 4yo still struggling with accidents

Need some advice with my 4yo, potty training seems to be a never ending struggle.

We thought we had it sorted about a year ago, she was dry all day, only the occasional dirty accident.

But those started getting more frequent. She wasn't having accidents at nursery, or with the childminder, so we suspect she was holding it in all day. And she'd end up having an accident within minutes of getting home, so we've been sitting her on the toilet as soon as she gets in. Most of the time this involves her screaming and crying that she doesn't want to. At times we've had to physically lift her on to the toilet, usually because she's mid-poo and still stood shouting that she doesn't need to.

She's just moved up to school, and it seemed like it was getting a little easier. She was more willing to go sit on the toilet, she still needs a lot of reminders and encouragement but there's less screaming about it.

Except the last few week she's started having multiple wet accidents (including stood over my non-waterproof boots in the hallways) - she always claims she was on her way to the toilet when she clearly wasn't.

Again, this isn't happening at school, just home. We're washing multiple pairs of knickers a day, and can barely get them dry before she's in them again (no tumble dryer).

I don't get it. She hasn't had any wet accidents in well over a year.

I feel like we've taken a massive leap backwards and I don't know what to do.

try to put her on the toilet every hour. if she wees, give her one smartie. if she poops, let her ring a bell (you can get a small on off amazon) and give her 2 smarties. make a big fuss of her. maybe it would be worth getting a few pairs of these? they look like proper pants but can contain the accident, so you shouldn't have to change her trousers every time. i would suggest getting the plain pattern, because you don't want her to like wearing them so much so that when its time to go back to proper pants, she doesnt want to!

No advice I'm afraid - but you're not alone! My DD (nearly 4) refuses to go to the toilet when at home, and will quite happily sit in a pile of pee so she doesn't have to interrupt what she's doing. I'm watching this thread with interest!!
