Potty training

How many wee's?

Started potty training dd2.10 today. Lots of preparation. Potty picked. Loads of pants. She's totally excited to start. Incentive agreed - chocolate button for every wee in the potty.

So we had 2 early misses and 16 wee's in the potty. 16!!! It seems like a crazy amount. My DH actually think I messed counting a few and it was closer to 20.

A couple were biggish wee's. Most were a thimble or two.

Is this normal? I wasn't expecting so many. Will it calm down as she learns control it better.

She knows the chocolate buttons are just for the first two days. She's definitely trying to wee to get another button.

But is this average?

It's loads because she wants a chic button lol it'll calm down when buttons are no longer available

My Son was the same in the beginning! we started 3 weeks ago and shout YAY & Jump up and down everytime he wees (he's 2 and 3months) he finds this hilarious, so he would sit on the potty and try and force one out just so we would do it! Even to the point where he's saying "stuck" because there's no more to come out! We've been following the Oh crap method which says to give them more fluids than normal in the beginning to get them to pee more so we could watch out for the signs, and it's been amazing! Keep going. Sounds like she's doing brilliantly! Smile

I'm suspecting that. Will she just calm down and hold them a bit longer.

Can't leave the house at this rate.

She's loving it so far. She's 2.10 so I waited until I was sure she was ready.

Loads of hugs and high 5's each time she does a wee. But first thing she says is "can I have a button now?"

I've told her that we're doing buttons all day tomorrow then no more. She seems ok with that now. Going to move to a treat at the end of each day.

Just got a bit worried that 16 was an awful lot.

Ah fab! Sounds like she's doing great! Grin
We're at the Point of introducing clothes at the moment (oh crap method is Naked at first and then go commando with bottoms on) he's Freaking out when we pull them down for him to go as they are sometimes getting a bit wet! So tackling this at the Moment before he starts Preschool in September!!

Let's hope they keep on going as good as they are.. next step Introducing it at night timeShockWine

Yes the bladder control just kicks in, DS went from weeing every 15 mins on day 1 to being once every few hours and started to be dry at night by two weeks in.

We have kept pants on but no trousers. I wanted to her to feel the sensation of being wet and not like it. Also wanted her to master pulling the pants down in time.

She was massively excited about moving from nappies to pants so much so the she wanted to wear pants over her nappy the last week.

I'm glass that they learn to regulate the amount off wee's

Thinking of going on a trip out today but not sure wether to quickly use a pull-up while in the car or cover the car seat with a towel and hope for the best. 30 min journey so high possibility of needed a wee.

What's best?

Following! Started with DS 2.7 yesterday, and yesterday on day 1 he did no wees for well over 2 hours, then did a really big one on the potty. Then this morning I put pants on him and he did loads of little tiny dribbles ones in the space of about half an hour! So gave up on the pants. He did the same with the loads of little dribbley ones this afternoon, which ended with one big one eventually. Is that normal, is it a control thing which will hopefully sort itself out soon? I was prepared for accidents, but not so many teeny tiny ones in such a short space of time!

Well we did the car trip this afternoon. Dd wanted to just wear pants. And although she fell asleep for 10 mins in the car we had no accidents in the 30min journey there or back.

The wee's have decreased a bit on day 2. But probably because she was focused on other things.

Going to stay close to home again to tomorrow. She also managed one poop in the potty.

Don't want to go out to much until I know she can hold it for a short time if needed. How do they learn that?
