Potty training

Going well at home but nursery is another story!

My DS is 29 months and has been doing really well with the potty at home with the odd accident here and there. He’s very proud of his efforts and loves to show us (cue us running to get the potty off him before he spills it on the floor 😨😆)

Started off letting him run around naked at home until he knew ‘the feeling’ of needing to go and then introduced pants. Problem is, he’s at nursery 3 days a week and seems to be having so many accidents whilst he’s there 😔 yesterday he came home with 6 changes of clothes where he’s not made it to the potty. He’s easily distracted playing with friends etc and I think he’s just forgetting to go before it’s too late.

He’s quite head strong as well and isn’t very willing to try if he thinks he doesn’t need to go even if it’s been a while since he last peed.

Please tell me I’m not alone and he’ll improve soon. I feel awful for him that he’s having so many accidents at nursery.

Sounds familiar, ds is 2.5 and generally knows to wee in the potty at home but not interested in engaging with it at nursery. Also he will happily wee through his pants and not say anything, being wet doesn't bother him in the slightest.

Wish I had answers for you.

I meant to say as well, he isn't very good at using to potty if not initiated by him.

We’re kind of having he opposite!

No wee accidents at the childminder all week. Although she has done a poo in her pants once every day.

But today at home we’ve had no wees in the potty, all over n the floor. But then did a poo in the potty Confused

No advice, but sympathy Gin

Thecomfortador, my son is the same with regards to being quite happy to sit in wet/dirty pants so doesn’t say a word when he has had an accident.

Nursery say they aren’t perturbed by the accidents and we should continue with it all.

We’re also finding that when we’re out of the house he’s distracted enough to not ask for the potty so we’re having to keep asking him - similar to nursery really 😩 very frustrating

How strange graysor, you’d imagine she would be happier to use the potty at home and more distracted by friends etc at the childminders.
