How do I potty train a 2.5 year old who has suddenly developed a fear of being without a nappy on? She was fine at being naked and using the potty sometimes but she’s suddenly refusing to take her nappy off and trembles and screams until she has one back on. It started after she weed in the bath. No-one made a fuss in any way but she freaked out and now won’t be without a nappy. She won’t bath, shower anything. Any tips?

Leave her nappy on, without any fuss at all, and then try again in a few weeks/whenever you feel she might be able to.

Though I've just re read and not sure how to tackle her not wanting to bath or shower, though....sorry!

Could you compromise and allow her to wear a swimming nappy in the bath? Try to help her allay her fear?

She won’t even get in with a nappy on! We had to make her this morning as she smelt so much.....sad times

She’s not ready. Nappies back on and wait until she is.

We had this with our now 3 year old. Put her nappy back on and don't stress. They all develop at different times.

We got a potty from amazon and book which was fab. It's about a little boy but you can get the girl ones and it talks about what the potty is for.

It's not for toys. It's not a hat. It's not a boat. We spent several weeks with this book and had giggles. Eventually he felt safe enough to go to the potty and runs about naked.

We are back to nappies this week but I'm slowly phasing them out. I'm taking it at his pace.

Don't make it a battle. Just go with the semi naked flow.

Until this week though she’s been showing all the ready signs. Obsessed with the potty and toilet and who goes in it. She’s just terrified of accidents it seems.

Let her take a step back. It's honestly the best way to create a stress free time for her x
