Potty training

Why so much wee?! Going mad

So my 2.5 year old boy has been in pants for 3 solid months as he’d started training himself. Poos reliably on toilet or potty and wees a bit hit and miss but generally ok FOR ANYONE OTHER THAN ME!!!!

At home he’s fine but if we go out, I ask if he needs a wee, he always says no but then will wet himself. So I religiously put him on the potty every hour and he still wets himself inbetween. Doesn’t say he needs to go, just quietly pees and keeps quiet about it until I notice. I’m talking about 2-4 changes for a few hours out and about......I’ve tried changing without comment/explaining why he needs to tell me. Tbh I’m at the point now where I’m getting angry and trying not to take it out on him but don’t always get that right.

It’s just so flipping infuriating and feels like it’s not improving.

Is it just a boy thing? Why only me and why’s it taking so long...........why god why???!!!!! Does this ever end??

Anyone have any poo nuggets of wisdom?!

Maybe use an incentive for getting it right. Every time he pees on a potty or a toilet he gets a star and after about 5 stars or so he gets something he likes.

Yes I’ll give that another try, thanks. Did start off with doing that but it just caused tantrums as he didn’t see why he couldn’t just have the treat now now now!!!

Was he throwing a tantrums while on the toilet? Or while he was outside?

Perhaps you can keep a little notebook on you with page of stickers, so the "reward" can be instantaneous, since you can see when you are getting close to 5 stickers.

After the potty. The tantrums were every time I tried to explain the concept of 5 stickers = kinder egg. He just wanted the egg so badly that the sticker concept didn’t register. Might try again (maybe with a slightly less exciting treat!) now he’s a few months older.

Notebook and stickers is a great idea, thanks 😊
