Potty training

Daytime naps with no nappy

Help! Just started training with DS who's 2.4. Had nappy off for about 3 hours and he's done every single wee on the potty and been so pleased with himself each time. The sticker rewards help! Trouble is he still has a 2/3 hour nap every day and has just had a meltdown about wearing a nappy.

I've put him in bed with trousers on and a bed mat under the sheet but can't be having wet bedding every day especially as I don't have a tumble dryer! What do I do?!

Hopefully the night time will be better as we can say he has to have a nappy for bedtime but this day nap is going to be an issue. He normally fights it so I'd have a nightmare trying to get a nappy on as well as getting him to sleep. Definitely still needs one though as he's exhausted.

Pull-up? Cloth nappy training pants? Bed mat on top of the sheets?

My son didn't potty train till after he dropped his nap so I've no experience - just ideas!

Wee before he naps? Should keep him dry for a few hours if he otherwise stays dry in the day. Mine were dry for naps & nights within a week of being dry in the day. Shouldn't be a problem for too long in any case.

My DS was the same age when we potty trained, we tried pull ups however after the nap they were dry so we left them off for naps, just make sure he has a wee before you put him down. DS is now 2.9 and has been dry at night for over month.

We used Spider-Man bedtime pull ups for ds at that stage to differentiate between nappies and pants. You can get various ones with cars/ dinosaurs etc on.

I am a salesman's dream.

We use pull ups anyway - it was much too hard to get a normal nappy on him once he started walking and wouldn't stay still! He's very independent and really cried when dh tried to get one on him before his nap. Maybe a different type will do the trick so he can distinguish between a 'nappy' and bedtime pants.

I'm hoping he won't pee during his nap but he does sleep a very long time so I'm doubtful. Hadn't thought about putting the bed mat over the sheet Blush

Oh the things we worry about!

My ds trained (through a fit and refused to wear a nappy anymore) at 2yrs 1 month. He never had an accident and refused to wear a nappy at night or for naps either. He has been dry day and night since so he may be ok! Otherwise I would put him down with no bottoms on and on a bed mat with a small, easy to wash and dry blanket for daytime naps.
