Potty training

Regression 3 months after being completely trained

This may be just a blip but want to know if anyone else has had this.
We trained ds in June, a months before he turned 3.
It went really really well and he was clean and dry completely within a couple of weeks and we have had zero accidents since. We have also gotten rid of the potty so everything is done on the toilet with a seat, and he doesn't need reminding, he tells us, and can hold on if we are not close to a loo.
All in all, a success.

Until yesterday.
The first thing that happened was he was downstairs naked, I was just about to get him ready for a shower and he just decided to have a wee. He thought it was funny, presumably because he had no clothes on. Put it down to that.
Then he proceeded to wet himself a further 3 times over the rest of the day.
Just completely out of the blue. He was remorseful afterwards, but mainly because we had to stop doing what he was doing to go and get cleaned up. We even had to leave soft play which he was very upset about. (Didn't think to take spare clothes as this was the first time)

We are going on holiday today, we gave a four hour drive ahead of us and if he's going to be wetting himself constantly it's going to be a nightmare.
I'm reluctant to put nappies/pull ups on him as it seems like such a back step.
Please help!

Do NOT put him back in pull-ups or nappies.

No I'm not going to. Well he wears one overnight but not planning to put him in one during the day.
What do you think I should do?
Been asking him incessantly all morning if he needs to go and so far he says no but also no accidents.
4 hour drive Sad

Is he constipated? Any other signs of urine infection? Has he been drinking too little or juice (concentrated wees can make accidents more likely)
Sometimes they just have a blip for a day (my daughter did at the childminders last week but has been fine since).
Have you got a puppy pad or travel change mat you can put on the car seat? Just encourage a wee before

Well he had a bit of d&v on Friday and Saturday, and didn't have a poo at all yesterday. Could it be related?
I think he's drinking his usual amount. He was playing with his willy yesterday, I asked him if it hurt he said no, I was thinking about urine infection too but he seems fine.

Thursday Friday actually the d&v was. He has seemed fine since.

It may be that he wasn't feeling himself and was a bit dehydrated. I really wouldn't worry too much about today but bring spare clothes for peace of mind x

Bring spare clothes, if you can stop off on the way that would help.

Also could you put one of those sheets they put on your bed when your pregnant that soak up urine (they look like puppy pads!) or would that upset him?

Just so if he does wee he doesn't have to sit in a wet car seat for hours.

Thank you.
He has been fine, sat him on the loo at every opportunity and now he has gone back to asking to go for a wee. Phew.
Must have just been a blip.

Back again.
I'm bumping this as we are still having problems with accidents, he had 2 yesterday and one this morning. Monday he was fine all day though Confused

He is constipated, he hasn't had a poo since Saturday. He's sat on the toilet now and we are encouraging him to go but he says it's too hard.

Any tips for sorting out constipation? (he's eating some strawberries which I'm hoping will help) and once the has had a poo is it likely the weeing accidents will stop?

Thanks.

It definitely can be related to constipation, DD1 only ever had wee accidents when constipated.
The only thing that ever helped with her constipation was movicol but it was quite severe. The usual advice is things like plenty of fluid (water/orange juice), prunes (Ella's kitchen do a prune pouch that you can mix work yoghurt if he won't eat them whole)

Fab thank you. Going to take a walk into the town this morning so will see if there is a Boots to get some movicol.

It will take a few days of movicol before he's empty, it's the blockagevand everything clogged, you need to use it until his bm is watery.

Thanks.
Typical it's while we are on holiday. I was looking forward to our first potty trained holiday and it's been nothing but stress and constantly scoping out the nearest loo Sad
