My little girl is nearly three and point blank refuses to use potty, to the point where she cries at the mention of the word.
She had sat on the toilet before her bath and will listen to a potty training song on you tube - no results!
I don't want to push her and put her off but she is due to start nursery school in September . Any suggestions to help her along would be great !

I got this for my daughter and we read it a few times and did what they did; took her to choose her own knickers and her own potty and stickers to stick on it. The book has a button to press each time she uses the potty that cheers and she loved it. She was three last month and we started in Feb x

We also had a sticker chart/ reward system that once she had so many she would get a prize. Then once she had used the potty a few times with pull ups we just cut them altogether and only had knickers, and had plenty of spare clothes to hand. The first day without a pull-up I asked her if she needed the potty every 10/15 mins.
Good luck x

Could she use underpants with a nappy over the top, or washable nappies if you have any, so that she will get feedback on every wee? This way she may learn what is going on without having to sit on a potty. If you buy cotton undies in a size too big, they should wash fine on 60 degrees (like washable nappies). You may want to differentiate between 'training pants to use with nappies' and 'big girl pants' for when the nappies come off, e.g. different colours or styles.

My DS, who had no interest at all in sitting on the toilet, wore washable nappies for 3 weeks due to a wheelie bin emergency, then took his nappy off, sat on the toilet and weed. He never had to go throught the sit-on-the-toilet-for-ages stage, which was a big relief. Although he hasn't cracked poos yet...
