Day off from potty training?

DS (2.5) is on day 3 of potty training. It is going so so ... if directed he goes to the potty (so he knows how to do it) but understandably gets distracted so there are lots of accidents. Tomorrow the family is going to STar wars celebration (!) and we have to bring him. It will be busy. Do you think a day off from potty training would hurt? ie put him in pull ups for the day? I could bring the travel potty and 6 changes of pants/ clothes but this seems like very hard work at a fan convention.

Personally I wouldn't have a day off. We're three weeks in and I think a day off at any point in that time would have been seriously confusing. You're asking him to unlearn a habit he's had all of his life (going to pee/poo when he wants to without second thought) and learn a new habit. Switching and changing the rules - some days it's new habit and today it's old habit again would be mighty confusing I think.

Whilst it's not as convenient I would just take changes of clothing and make sure you stick him on the Loo regularly throughout the day

We did similar with 2.5 year old DD and it was fine, just went back to it the next day. No long term issues.

I also wouldn't have a day off. It won't be as difficult as you'd think. Just take him off to the toilet every half hour or so.

On our day 2 of toilet training we had a 'surprise' hospital appointment. One I'd rather not put off. Only 15 mins drive to the hospital, we'd be ok I thought. Got stuck in traffic, 15 minute journey was over an hour!!! I was close to meltdown. DS was absolutely fine, and no accidents!

I just told DD we were going to put a pull up on her as we might be a long way from the toilet, but to still tell me if she needed a wee, which she did. Took the stress away and we went straight back to normal the next day.
