Potty training

OK, how the hell does DD use the big loo?!

DD (3.2) has recently taken to the potty pretty well. At nursery she uses the loo but of course they have low ones. For home I've got her a little step and the kiddy seat to go on the big loo, but she (and I) cannot work out how to get up onto the blasted thing! If she steps up facing the loo, she can't turn around and if she goes backwards, the child seat moves around so she can't get on it. She's only a tiddler (less than 1m tall) so maybe the step is too low? The only way she's managed is going up forwards then climbing on the loo on hands and knees then turning around, but that's ridiculous.

We have a seat with a step (all in one) from argos. Think it's made by keter but it's brilliant.

A tall step with two steps rather than one little is good so that they are well above the seat when at the top. That way they sit down onto the seat (as we do) and don't shift the little seat around.

Sounds like your seat is dodgy? I lifted my DD for a while, whilst we were getting the hang of it.

What kind of seat do you have? IKEA do a very grippy one which was good for DS. Are you putting the step too close to the toilet so she doesn't have room to turn around?

It's just a cheap thing from a local chain (I don't live in UK). Annoyingly I've bought two of them as we have two loos, but there's nothing on them to firmly attach to anything, they just sit on top.

Looks like a trip to Ikea is in order Sad

A two step stool or the toilet seat with the attached kids seat that won't move or shuffle. When you need the toilet you just lift the kid's bit up. Lemme see if i can find a link or pic x

family toilet seat is great - really glad we fitted those in our toilets as it is so much easier to clean than those padded training seats and you don't have to worry about storing a training seat as it is attached to the toilet.

get her to sit backwards facing te cistern, that way she can hold herself up and get on and off without too much trouble.
