So we have begun potty training our ds this week 2nd attempt All is going well this time round so far this week he is readily using the potty to wee and is also beginning to do poos in it now too. He went nursury on Tuesday and seemed to be holding his poo in till he got home (they put nappy on him for nap so he did wee). Anyway we are going out on Saturday all day so i'm worried about what we are going to do. Do you take the potty with you or do you put them in nappes?

If he's doing well then try not to to back to nappies.

Just take his potty (or. a pottette is even better), changes of clothes and nappy sacks/carrier bags to put soiled clothes in. Be prepared to remind him more often as in the early days, distraction often leads to accidents.

Good luck!

I used pull-ups in town (didn't care when we were walking in the country - there's always a convenient tree) for some time after my dc were potty-trained. Far less stressful. And it didn't seem to confuse them (the normal reason given for not using pull-ups in these situations).

I always put a pull up on my son when we went out in case of any accidents. It was a bit of a battle getting him potty trained at first as he doesn't like change. In those first few weeks when we went out, my son would all of a sudden tell me he wants to go home if he needed to go to the toilet. It was almost like he felt he had nowhere to go as he was so used to going at home. But I'd see the signs and take him to the toilet and he'd go. So maybe pull ups in case of any accidents. We're still battling with my son now as he has almost daily accidents and I've now got rid of all the pull ups - although god knows why, it's not like sitting in wet clothes bothers my son one bit. He won't tell me he's wet himself, it'll only be when I notice.
