DS 3.5 hysterical not having nappy on

All ready to try again today. Put sticker chart up yesterday thought he was all set, but no. Took his nappy off this morning and DS becomes hysterical running round house looking for a nappy. DH thinks just leave it off but he'll be hysterical all day and Christ I just can't handle it.
I can't get to the bottom of what he's afraid of. Will sit on potty wearing nappy but never without. I was going to put pants on under his nappy today? He's nearly 3.5, all his friends in nursery all trained so that has no effect on him Sad

No advice I'm afraid but I could almost of written your op myself, my ds sounds exactly the same! He just point blank refuses to sit on potty or toilet without a nappy on and no amount of bribery or stickers is working whatsoever!

This sounds just like us too! dd is 3 yrs 4 months and point blank refuses to sit on potty or toilet. First words she said to my mum when dropping her off the other day 'grandma im not sitting on the potty today'! She can do it and has before but now just refuses. Tried leaving it for a month or so, not mentioning it at all, then tried again but still refuses. Her doll sits on her potty but she wont. She goes mad if we try to leave her without a nappy, tried the terry towelling knickers but just wets them and isnt bothered. I know shes ready (everyone says you'll know) but dont know what to try next. Any ideas?

We're not talking about it at the minute. I've put pants on 3 of his toys, bought a new seat for toilet and we're taking his toys for a wee and a poo couple of times per day. No end in sight /weeps/

I'm thinking of leaving it until Christmas when we've got a few days at home and trying again then. Praying she'll just decide to do it! Maybe Father Christmas can help!

I put a magazine filled with stickers in the loo. Followed by absolute refusal to buy any more nappies. Cruel to be kind and all that.
Took three days.

I've shelved the project for a bit too, I think ds is physically ready but not really emotionally ready tbh, good luck all!

I came here looking for help but I'm also slightly taking comfort in the fact I'm not alone. DD is 3.5 point blank refuses to sit on the toilet or potty. She says she's scared of the flush but I'm 100% certain she's not, and think that someone has put words in to her mouth about it. I'm at the end of my rope (judgemental grandparents are not helping the situ). Bought Tesco value pull ups yesterday in the hope that they were rubbish and she would feel wet and yucky. It doesn't seem to be working so far.....
