Could anyone with lots of experience in this have a look at our progress and tell me if I'm doing this the best way?
DD is 2.9 and has instigated toilet training herself a few days ago. She has had a couple of hours a day in pants over the weekend with success, she is telling us she needs a wee and going and doing it herself on our toilet. She had a training seat but said ahe didn't need it last night . Great! Today is the first free day I've had to put her in pants all day. Started well, two wees on the toilet. She did a poo on the floor when I was out of the room this morning, I kind of expected that as it was the first time. She seemed to understand it needed to go in the toilet same as wee when I flushed it away. Went out for a walk and ten mins in she said she needed a wee, I found a toilet and went in but then she said she didn't need to go. Left, walked along a few mins and she stopped at wet herself. Change of clothes and carried on. 30 mins later she says she needs the toilet in the supermarket but when I get her into the cubicle and on the toilet she says she doesn't need it. I wait around for 5 mins but she is shuffling to get off and says she doesn't need to go. About 20 mins later she says she needs the toilet again and it takes me 5 mins to find one, she does go this time and I gave her loads of positive praise for telling me and holding it enough to get to the loo. Got the bus home and she remained dry. Put her in a pull up for her nap, she wasn't happy about it but did accept it. Aim for this afternoon is back in pants and doing a poo on the toilet, if she needs to do another one (usually does two a day). I have another full day free tomorrow and then she is at nursery for two days. She is incentivised by getting stickers for using the toilet but mainly is telling me when she needs to go rather than me asking her all the time. If anything, she is saying she needs the toilet more than she actually seems to need it. Whilst it is a bit tiresome for me I am hoping this is a good thing and she is practising new skills?
Any other tips appreciated, feel like I am completely winging it
