My DD is 2.4 years old. This is our second go at using the potty. The first time she was only just 2, but seemed so interested in it, using it regularly etc thought I’d give it a go but soon gave up when I realised she was only doing so well because I continuously put her on the potty every 15 min! She never once initiated it and didn’t seem bothered by being wet etc.
Since then, she has been in pull up’s, and recently starting telling us when she needs a wee or a poo. She is able to dress herself from the waist down, undress and pull her trousers back up again. She’s been refusing to wear nappies and asking for big girl pants, so thought I’d try again and started this week.
Now, at nursery, she has no accidents at all, tells them when she needs to go and often just takes herself apparently. At home yesterday we had so many accidents I lost count. She did do two poos on the potty with a bit of encouragement, and by the end of the day if she started having an accident she would stop herself and finish off in the potty.
How many accidents is too many? Do I stick with it this time? I don’t want to go back and forth too many times, but equally don’t want to push her/stress her if she isn’t ready. WWYD? Would you continue for a few weeks and see what happens? Parenting is such a minefield – I never feel like I make the right decisions!
