DS (2.4) started potty training a month ago, ish.
At home he confidently walks to the potty, pulls his own pants and trousers down, goes in the potty. We had a few weeks of poo pants but that has worn off, he has had about 3 accidents in the last week. Out and about he will go in a big toilet with some whining... at Grannies he has the odd accident.
At nursery, he just will not ask to go. When they ask him he says no. The only way he goes on the potty there is if they take him directly to it, take his trousers down for him, and sit him on it. He just pees his pants 5 times a day, or poos and seems to not care.
I appreciate this is not really their job and they have 10 or so other kids to manage as well, there is one lass who seems to take a bit more effort in getting him to go but any tips on how to get him to take the initative? Every day when I drop him off I say 'you have to ask the nursery ladies if you need to do a wee' and he says yes ok, and then just doesn't!
Lots of home safe techniques just won't work there, he cant run around pantsless, I can't give them a bag of chocolate buttons to bribe him with (never required at home), I can't be there to ask or tell him every 5 minutes and he is generally quite low maintenance; just potters about by himself, so he is not right in their centre of attention.
