Potty 0 wee all over the house, wwyd?(8 Posts)
catwithkittens and others, can I ask where you would recommend buying training pants from?
My older 2 were both trained at 2.9 months, and my previous job before DC3&4 were born was a TA in a nursery in-charge of children still in nappies so have had lot's of potty training experience.
I found day one pretty much as you describe wee everywhere! You need to get them on the potty as much as possible, try everything DVD/TV/Books/Bubbles/Chocolate/Stickers.
If they get something in it even a dribble, you need to make the BIGGEST fuss ever party-poppers/medal/reward chart/dancing/hugs/kisses/phone Grandma.
I don't think pull-ups are very good, they are no different to a nappy. the training pants Cat suggests are very good.
Sorry to keep harping on about them but trainer pants are a really good idea at this stage. As I said in reply to another thread about going back to nappies, we have used 2 types. One is thick terry with a waterproof cover which we tended to use all the time for children when they had trousers on, especially if we were out of the house and the other are just terry pants, (better, we found, for daughters in skirts!). We often put plastic pants over the plain terry ones in the early days of "training" or before they were really reliable when we were out or in the car. These pants are different from nappies, you can honestly call them pants. The waterproof ones do keep the worst of a wee, and everything solid in one place but they do let a child know when he or she has done something. We found they were much better at that than disposable pull-ups, which seem to absorb everything. What is more unlike pull-ups they don't cost a fortune - ours will be doing their fifth child before too long.
Put him back in nappies. He obviously isn't quite ready yet so leave it a bit longer.
Id leave it, till the warm weather and you can go outside!
Also I always give the potty a miss, go straight for the toilet, why put in an unnecessary step.
when hes ready it will be easy
just my thoughts!
We're on day 2. Day 1 3 wees & 1 poo in pants, 0 in potty. Today 2 wees in pants, 0 in potty, no poos as of yet. He is sitting on the potty lots (in return for a sticker) but isnt producing & i dont think he 'gets' it. Is it meant to be like this or should we have had at least one hit on the potty by now? Ds is 2.8
currently on day 3. same age. day 1 had 2 wees on floor then 4 micro wees in potty. day 2 wees in potty all day big poo in potty. put pants on feeling uber confident and within ten mins had weed in pants. today had a poo in potty and three wees so far all on floor! can't offer advice but just wanted to let you know I feel housebound and frustrated. day 1 generally chaotic as is day 2. if hasn't kicked in by tues suggest try again in a month.
DS is 2y 9m, tried pants today, wee on mattress, my laptop case and all over me. DH has put him back in pull-ups.. Do I wait a while or push on? He has generally been at the late end of normal range development wise, didn't eat til 7mo, didn't talk til 2.. What is normal range for potty training?
