Regression in 3 YO - don't know what to do

DS has been dry during the day for about 5 months. He was showing signs oc readiness (would tell me when he was weeing or pooing in nappy) and he got the idea very quickly. But he is reluctant to interrupt playing to go to the toilet! So we've had ups and downs along the way. Up until now when he's had a bad patch, it's lasted a day or two, but with lots of reminders and rewards, we have got back on track fairly easily. Until now.
We are now in week 3 of wetting - he's doing it at least twice a day. He is fully aware, always comes and tells me when he's wet himself and says sorry. But then it happens again and again. I'm now at the point where I'm thinking of putting him back in nappies as I'm losing my patience with it. DS heard mention nappies and got v upset.
So we are currently rewarding all successful trips to the toilet with stickers, choc button etc and ignoring accidents, but I'm wondering if I need some kind of sanction too. I don't want to upset DS but I'm truly lost as to what to do next.

We had this up until about 3 weeks ago. He was trained for a few months, then started having the odd accident and then it got to the point where he might as well not be potty trained Confused

Preschool advised us to just take him to the toilet every so often(about 2 hours worked for us) and to completely ignore it beyond helping him get changed, so show absolutely no reaction to it. Strangely, it worked and he was fine again within about 10 days Confused I think in retrospect, he was 'enjoying' the extra attention he got because of it and I have to admit I was quite obvious with my frustration about it Blush The whole regression lasted about 6 weeks in the end!

Best of luck, don't put him back in nappies, it's just a regression and he will grow out of it again Smile

Thank you. Will stick with it. Had a good day yesterday bug today not great. Part of the issue is DS is with our part time nanny on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and he's much worse with wetting on those days. Think its a bit of a protest at me going to work! Not sure what to do about that though.

Does the nanny have the same approach as you?

Yes she does, but she probably doesn't pick up on his cues quite so well. I also think if she asks DS if he wants to go and he says no, she doesn't just take him anyway if he's fidgeting and showing signs he needs to go.
