Needing to use potty after he's in bed

For the last 4 nights DS1 has gone to bed and 5 mins later decided he needs to use the potty. The first 2 nights he wee'd, the last 2 he pooed as well.

He uses the toilet before bed, and for the last 2 nights I'm pretty sure he just didn't want to try to poo.

I don't think it's deliberate in that he's holding on specially so he can go after he's in bed, but I do think he's being non-co-operative in not really trying at bedtime.

By way of background, he's just 3 y.o and we do EC so have been pottying him since 8 months. The extra potty time adds ages to the time it takes to get him to sleep, since he wears a sleeping bag, sleepsuit, PJ trousers, nappy wrap and nappy, all of which are a nuisance to get on and off.

Any tips?

I am not sure what EC is but I would just go with the flow (so to speak!)
he is very little and learning to control going to bed. I would think he is just relaxed in bed and so more likely to think of going to the loo!
it seems a big thing now but won't soon
I would be more worried if he really did need a poo and didn't go for fear of upset - if he hadn't pooed the last couple of nights it might be different

I would do toilet trip. Then bath/ stories etc, then second toilet trip before finally getting ready for bed.

Thanks. He didn't do it tonight which was a relief, and we didn't have a bedtime tantrum either, which was a pleasant change. :)

We have tried getting him to use the loo twice, but he gets really upset the second time and screams the house down about the fact that his bowels and bladder are empty, so we stopped trying to do that.
