Potty training

No idea what I'm doing!!

DD is 26 months and over last couple of weeks has been increasingly interested in potty. She frequently asks to do a wee wee on the potty. Fine, que strip off lower half. She will then happily sit on the potty for up to an hour, reading books, colouring, scoots over to activity table etc etc. She will normally eventually have a wee (luck more than judgement i think) and is very pleased with herself. But if we have to go out or something before hand and put nappy back on we have a massive meltdown.

I think she knows she needs to go but doesn't know how to start. Any advise

Watching with interest as my DS of a similar age is the same. I heard it's best to go cold turkey and move straight into pants, but don't want to run the risk of ruining every rug in the house! Grin

I've read on here about going cold turkey but NONE of my friends have done it that way and all been successful eventually. Don't think we coult take the stress, especially DH who is with her more of the time as I work FT

Snap again! I work FT and DH is at home, and I've left it up to him with the potty training. It seems a bit mean to insist that DS is allowed to poo all over the house, if I'm not the one clearing it up!

DS seems happy to use the toilet, and to wear nappies, so I guess it will happen in time.
