My 2 year old has been dry day and night for 2 weeks but won't poo in toilet

This is a similar post to the one I've just read. My son is 2 years 4 months and it took him 2 days to master the weeing day and night however 2 weeks in and he just poo's in his pants, he understands and tells us where he should do it but when it comes to it is scared to poo on the toilet, he's managed to work out how to wee whilst holding his poo then poo once he's off the toilet and out of site, he doesn't have a routine so its becoming increasingly difficult, i'm not sure how to go about getting him to actually poo on the toilet so I can praise him etc, Any advise?

It's not unusual for it to take longer to poo-train as it were. Just keep talking to him and reassuring him.

Thanks for the advice, I already have a 5 year old and he just got it within a week (obviously accidents for a few more) but never heard of any of my friends with children having this problem. Just don't want him to develop a fear but I suppose early days so will keep going and try the book too

It took my DD several months to get the hang of poo (so to speak) for months she would 'save' it up during the day and wait until her night nappy was on before she went! She finally cracked it on holiday while we were camping, when I pretended to be too busy to put her nappy on (I knew why she wanted it!) and suggested she use the potty instead - as there really was no other option - she did it and from that day was clean.
The staff at the nursery she was at said it was fairly common, many of the tots were dry but did not poo at nursery and would wait until they were at home before they would go.

DD was dry during the day from the start, took two weeks to be dry at night but a month before poos were being done in the potty/on the loo. I'd thought poos would have been easier for her to feel than pees so was not at all prepared for this. During the month, we "caught" a couple of poos in the potty simply because we realised what was about to happen & got the potty under her but that was nothing to do with her &, as she doesn't poo at a regular time or usually strain as she's doing a poo, it wasn't a system we could rely on. When we did "catch" one, we gave her loads of praise and the treat we'd talked about for when she did a poo on the loo/potty. I was really beginning to despair when, one day, she announced "need poo" and ran clutching her bottom to the potty in the bathroom & did a poo. The next day, she announced she was doing a poo & I pulled down her trousers to see that, yes, she was but managed to get some kitchen roll under her, then put the poo on the kitchen roll in the potty & got her to sit down & do the rest of it. Sinec then, we've been pretty much fine. I think we've had one poo accident in the last two weeks.
