Potty training

How long can one child cross his legs for??

Day two of potty training. Yesterday we (well, him, not me) had a poo in the garden and a wee on the sofa. Nothing in potty.

Today he has been up for 3 hours and has sat on the potty but produced nothing. Even I would have made a mess on the floor by now.

Sigh. The stupid thing is that I was actually looking forward to getting this over and done with. He's managed to produce in the potty before, but I've been waiting for nursery end of term. Given his previous successes I thought this would be relatively simple.

Does anyone have any words of encouragement. I'm bored of being stuck in the house already!

Oh, and that's not mentioning the wee that he went for on my lap yesterday...

Nothing to add really, I just loved the title of your thread :)

Thanks. Still nothing. It's really very dull waiting for another person to go to the loo...

Could you go together, you on loo, him on potty? Run a tap and see if the trickling sound encourages him to wee? Make him laugh while he's on the pot so that he relaxes enough to let go?

Thanks girly I'll try that. I wonder whether me reminding him every five minutes is making him uptight, so making him laugh and just generally trying to make the thing a bit more fun might be a better approach.

Unfortunately, he stored it up all morning and then went in the kitchen, so I'll have to wait until he 'refills'.

We have wee wee! Making him laugh really worked, thank you. I could see he needed to go, so I just sat him on the potty and amused him until he relaxed.

We also have poo, although that was more by dint of me getting the potty underneath as he prepared to crap on the floor. Still.
