Dd 2.11 trained for a few months now, has suddenly started weeing out of toilet onto floor.

Any ideas or help would be really appreciated, because I am getting seriously fed up of having to clean up a flood and get her changed every time she goes to the toilet and have just caught myself getting snappy with her about it.

We have one of those toilet seats with a smaller one for dd that is clipped into the lid by a magnet and she has been absolutely fine ever since she started going on the toilet, then suddenly in the last ten days or so, she has started weeing out of the toilet onto her clothes, step and the floor every single time she goes.

We had a minor issue with this to start with and worked out that if she leaned forwards slightly when sitting on the toilet it didn't happen. This time we have tried every conceivable modification of the way she's sitting and she's still doing 'fountain wees'.

Its such a shame, as we had a bumpy start with potty training, then she just decided she was ready and we haven't looked back. Its all been so positive for a couple of months and now this. I'm worried its going to set her back if we don't sort it out.

Has anyone else had this? Is there something obvious I'm missing?

Tbh I would get a different toilet seat/use a potty for her on her own. I think that it is reasonable that if they sit in the way that is comfortable it will go into the right place? We have one that does this and it drives me mad.

Have you tried without a seat at all? That gives a nice big space to aim at!

Dh and I were just talking about this after he took her to the toilet before a trip to the local shop and it resulted in him having to get her changed - again.

I have suggested trying without the smaller seat, but she's adamant she doesn't want to, despite using toilets without a little seat when we're out and about.

The odd thing is, that she was fine going to the toilet for a couple of months before this started. I just can't work out why it has started happening.

I've thought about buying a seat with a deflector (like for little boys) that fits onto the normal toilet seat, but if I'm honest, I think she's likely to just wee over the top of that even - she's quite spectacular with it at times.

It's really got me flummoxed. I have two older boys and never had this problem with either of them, although logically you would be more likely to get it with boys when they sit down.

The thing is, she was happily going to the toilet on her own before this started. The whole bit, even washing and drying her hands without being reminded - but now she is refusing to go and trying everything to avoid it and I can see it becoming a big problem if we can't find a solution quickly.

I think I'm going to insist on trying her on just the normal seat and see if that helps. Perhaps if she finds it doesn't happen then, she will be more willing to go.

Is she sitting with her legs too close together and not far enough back on the seat?

Thank you for your post Nevercan. We have tried everything, sitting her further back, making sure she has her legs wide. Nothing seems to work.

To be honest, I'm starting to wonder if she is tensing up when she sits on the toilet now and that's what's causing it.

Am going to try sitting her on the normal seat tomorrow and see if that helps at all.

Problem is, she's so proud of her own 'little toilet seat' that I know I'm going to have a battle on my hands if she's not allowed to use it.

Am also going to try getting her to go more often to see if that makes any difference, as she can go ages between wees and I've noticed its worse the longer she leaves it in between toilet trips.
