Hi all, just wonder if anyone has any advice for me regarding my 3.5 yr old son. I had a relaxed attitude to potty training with him and figured with a bit of encouragement he'd figure it all out, which he did. The first thing we cracked was pooing on the loo. The wee's took a little longer. Anyway, all systems go and he was dry day and night and pooing in the toilet quite happily, and proudly. However the last 2 months he has decided he won't do poos on the loo or a potty, and will just go off and do it in his pants. He will come to me after and say 'sorry mummy', but still wont use the loo for poo's. He says he doesn't like it. Nothing obvious comes to mind to have caused this, but its starting to get a bit depressing now. He cracked it once for quite some time but now won't do it. He starts nursery in Sept for 2 1/2 days a week and I really hope to have it sorted by then. Any suggestions gratefully received.

You are alone, I am tearing my hair out with the same problem. DS is 2.7 and has been trained for about 6 weeks. Over the last 5 days he has decided to start pooing on his pants. I have taken a harsh line with him as he has been happily pooing on potty for weeks so no good reason for this. Have threatened nappies, taken away favourite toys (which he can 'win' back by pooing on potty) but nothing seems to bother him. No idea what to do next, maybe bumping this post will help us find some advice.

same here - hence why i am lurking on the potty thread.
DD was doing all wees and poos on potty but now refuses point blank to go anywhere near the potty, and goes ballistic if I suggest she sits on it.
It is depressing, and no amount of bribing (even lending her my ipad) seems to work.
Gloomy :(

Hi

We are going through a spell of 7 weeks of regression with my 2 3/4 year old daughter. I have tried being understanding, being strict with her. Tried telling her she needs to go to the toilet and yet she still pees on the way to the toilet. The past few days have gotten worse she pulled down her pants on the stairs on peed on them, like it was a normal thing to do. I am at my wits end with it and when questioning her about it she doesn't appear to understand, I really don't want to go back to nappies but feel I am running out of options. Any suggetions will be apprectated.

oh dear. no advice but us too-6 weeks of being clean and dry and now "I've had a little accident" twice a day. AAGGH!

I'm trying to stay calm and simply start each day with a "no accidents today?!"

i am going through the same thing. DS who is nearly 3 had been doing really well after having a nightmare with poos. He has been happily using the toilet and sitting on the big seat and we don't use the potty anymore. For the past couple of weeks he has been doing poos in his pants again and like above is not really sorry for doing it. Weirdly though he woke me up at 5am the other morning saying he needed a poo (he still wears nappys at night) and i took him to the toilet. I am nearing my wits end esp as all his friends are all trained up!

someone must have the answer!!!!!!!

We have training DS1 who is now 4.1 since february and I must say it has been a rollercoaster - we have had glimmers of hope when he has told us he needs and then goes quite happily - this would last about 4 days and then he would decide that he was not going to play ball and have accidents. have tried bribery, works sometimes, sometimes not. this past week and a half he has been going on his own and then yesterday - back to damp patches in pants, holding in for hours, crossed legs, etc and refusing to go. The frustrating thing is he bloody well knows what he is doing, he just wants to be in control. This morning he was obviously needing a pee so I said he had to go before nursery. He started digging his heels in so I got the phone and said that I was going to phone the doctors because there must be something wrong with him cos he wont go to the toilet - Voila! - off he went and did a pee...I know its a bit mean but what can you do? Its getting to the point now where I just think - well he does know and he will just have to take responsibility for it when he decides - I must say though it has been really hard work!
