Potty training

Really tempted to give up

DD is 2 and a half. We (me, Dh and nanny) started potty training a couple of weeks ago, and it's not going well. She is very happy to sit on a potty and do wees and poos on them. But she seems to have no idea when she needs to do a wee or poo. If we can get her to sit on the potty she will stay there until she has done something. But we are getting a lot of accidents, we seem to have had 4 in the last 2 hours. I'm beginning to wonder if she is too young, and we should just go back to nappies. But DH and nanny keep telling me you just make it worse if you go back to nappies. And she needs to be more or less potty trained before starting pre-school in September. Any advice please!
