Potty training

ds won't pull his pants down

I am pretty sure I've had it easy so far. Ds is 2yrs and 1 month, trained in about a week. He has the "I need to go" bit down, sometimes slightly late if absorbed in something. Hates being wet. But.... he will not pull his pants down. We're laughing at home, turn the heating up, strip the child. But when out, I'm having to resort to nappies. I know I don't need them but how do I get him to pull his pants down?

At 2yrs 1m, he might find managing his clothes a bit difficult. If he tells you he needs to go, just pull them down for him. I remember my DS trained at 2yr 6 mo and could pull down his pants and trousers but not very quickly, and learning to pull them up again took a few more weeks.

Learning to dress/undress is a skill which gets better with practice, so you could make a game of it while getting ready for a bath for example, not just when he needs the potty. I think at his age he's doing really well, telling you he needs to go is proof that he knows what he's doing and is doing it willingly.

Thanks! He's non verbal which doesn't help! Just trying to intercept him on his mad dash to the potty. I usually fail! The game is a phenomenal idea. Will try it.
