Refusal to 'perform' on potty

My 2.4 year old refuses to 'perform' on the potty. I introduced the potty gently by offering her to use it from time to time but at least once a day and she first refused flat out to sit on it. So I left it for a while and didn't ask at all - the slowly tried again - she started with sitting with clothes on and also stuck stickers on it etc to encourage use. Now she doesn't mind sitting on it and will actually ask to sit on it or rather she prefers the toilet with a booster seat especilly if i say i am going. She goes through the process of sitting there for a short time getting off saying 'finished - i've done a wee wee or poo' when she hasn't and flushes and tries to wash her hands!

When she sits on it for a while - if read to her - when i ask her to try and do a wee wee or poo poo then she says NO. She has never done anything on the potty or toilet and I am not sure it is just bad timing as the amount of times she has sat on it and as soon as she is off she will go!

Also whn I ask her do you need to use the potty or do a poo poo at her regular time in the morning then she will say no and then go off and procede to do it in her nappy and deny it! She also does not want to wear pants - asking for her nappies!

Really don't know what to do - I have never pushed her. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

I would just leave it for now - sounds like she is not ready. Wait a couple of months and maybe try again :)

it's just a matter of time but you can help by getting cerrrazzy excited about pooing and peeing yourself and she'll no doubt want to copy you.

mummy did a big fat stinking jobby!!! hurray! and the likes.

Thanks for the advice - do you reckon completely lay off the potty for a couple of months or just occasionally offer it?
Will try the excitement over bowel movements too!! Hilarious - the things you go through with kids!
