Hi my little one is 15 weeks. I had forceps and an episiotomy and lots of internal stitches. Only just starting to feel normalish down there. (Although still aches when exercise) I haven’t plucked up the courage to have sex yet and other half is getting annoyed- understandable. When did other people do the deed? Xx tmi I knowSmile

First off,it's not 'understandable' and no one would be having sex in this house if they got annoyed.

Don't do anything until you are ready, they're plenty of other things you can do apart from penetrate be sex if you want to .

I had an episiotomy with my first, and had sex about 3-4 months later. Was only very slightly painful, certainly nothing like what I’d anticipated.

If you want to have sex, use plenty of lubrication at first and maybe even a drop of alcohol to relax you. Very slow and gentle and stopping g if necessary. Don't feel pressurised though

Oh wow, not 'understandable' at all. If you're only just feeling normal consider giving yourself another few weeks healing time. It'll make all the difference. Agree with pp re lubrication. Good luck

With my first I had internal stitches after forceps and we waited 3 weeks ( minimal bleeding also). I would say it was uncomfortable but not painful for the first three or four times.
I felt ready and missed the intimacy with DH.

Internally I can still feel the stitches now, I’ve since has DD who is now 16 weeks old, I had stitches but light ones and not internally, we waited 2 weeks, ‘

That was right for me, but it doesn’t mean it was right for everyone else. It’s when you feel ready. Take it slowly. Plenty of lub, and yes it might be uncomfortable at first but that does go away!

Advice will differ depending on what kind of forceps were used and whether there was damage in addition to the episiotomy. Also, whether orgasms hurt — some women can have stinging / agonising orgasms due to pelvic floor disorders that often take up to a year to resolve.

Wow definitely not understandable! You have pretty much just had a baby and had stitches and forceps. I had the same as you and I think waited about three months. It was fine by then, but like PP said if you are only just feeling back to normal wait another few weeks.

I had an episiotomy and ventouse. Lots of stitches and bleeding. At 9 weeks we had a go, it hurt really bad. Then again after 2 more weeks we tried again and each time it got easier

I had forceps, episiotomy and 2nd degree tear so had quite a few stitches.
I waited 9 weeks. Prior to having sex I’d been to see the doctor as I thought I had a prolapse, she did a quick internal and I was terrified of it hurting but it didn’t, so decided that after that I was ready for me and my boyfriend to do the deed!
Very cautious and nervous but surprisingly it didn’t hurt. I can’t say that there’s much feeling there like there used to be , but imagine that will all come back with time.
11 weeks now and so far have done it twice x
