I am beyond constipated. I am in pain and I am trying to pass what only can be described as rocks. I am taking lactolose which isn't doing anything and I've been given suppositories which I find really hard to use. It doesn't help that my diet is awful at the mo and I'm drinking when I can but sometimes that isn't very often. I also have a haemmeroid which is making the whole thing worse.

I'm breastfeeding so not sure what else I can try??

Help me Sad

I had the same, never realised how painful it could be until it happened. Mine got so bad that I ended up with a little tear from passing a really solid stool and had blood every time for a few weeks.

I drank loads of water, tried to limit the amount of cake and eat more veg and a few weeks later everything ended up softening and going back to normal.

Sending a lot of sympathy, it's horrendous!

Prioritise water - get a massive bottle and force yourself to drink. Lots of fruit and veg. It will help! Get someone to watch baby so you can take your time on the toilet!! I sympathise, I had an awful time with this but it will be fine!

Kiwifruit. It always works for me put 3 or 4 into a smoothee.
I also had constipation post baby, post epesiotomy. It was horrible and I was terrified every time I went to loo I was going to tear stitches.
But as others have said, loads of water. And kiwifruit. And it will get better.

I've just had a baby on the 13th and I've been suffering from constipation badly too. Had a c section and been in so much pain they gave me morphine, which although fantastic for the pain, seems to make the constipation worse. My stomach seems all over the place. Had a couple of constipation tablets that the midwife recommend and it took almost a day to work but really cleared me out, sorry for tmi. Still struggling with pain but trying to stay off the morphine as it makes the problem come back, even though the morphine is the only thing atm that stops all of my pain so I can get on and do things. Just had some fruit and I now have stomach ache and feels like things are getting moving again. Things we go through, I just want to feel back to normal, feels like I never will some days. Sorry for a bit of hijack there, hope it improves for you

I am 4 weeks pp and haven’t been able to drink plain water since the pregnancy - but the other liquids I have still help. Try lots of milky tea with ginger and sugar, diluted squash, orange juice - basically any liquid you can keep down. Even sickeningly sweet lattes help me keep regular. I also suggest slightly upping your intake of soluble fibre - don’t go crazy but a couple of apples a day with the liquid will really help.
