Episiotomy nightmare!

Hi all,
I gave birth to my son 7 weeks ago, it was a long labour resulting in a forcep delivery with an episiotomy, my son was 9lb 1oz and as I had been in labour about 30 hours I had no idea what had happened (also lost 1.4 pints of blood).
Now I have healed I’ve been brave enough to look downstairs properly and the lower half of one side of my labia is completely missing! 😳 I can see it’s at the bottom where the episiotomy scar is, so it looks like the bottom half was cut off or sewn into the scar? Now where the scar is I can feel a solid lump/mass under it but presumed it was just where the muscle has been re-joined, could it be the case that they have accidentally sewn the labia into the cut or has half of my labia been cut off completely?
I can’t find anything similar anywhere on the internet?

I had a very similar birth experience to you and have to say it’s not been symmetrical down there since and I’ve accepted that. (for what it’s worth DH has not noticed!). Has the cut healed yet? In the early days it can look pretty grim (I regretted looking) but your body is designed to recover itself.
If you’re really worried check in with a midwife next time your at the health centre ( or health visitor - a lot of them are ex-midwives).

Often the scar becomes granulated. That means as it heals it overheals and forms more tissue than is required causing a lump.

Happened to me. Pea shaped lump which it was actually uncomfortable to sit on. I went back to the ward (as I was entitled to post natal care there up to 12 wks after) and they made an appointment to smooth it down with silver nitrate.

It stung a bit but it was lovely and smooth afterwards. So definitely get the lump looked at whilst you're still eligible cos if you wait you will have to get a GP referral and it could take ages.
