Hi my baby boy is 10 days old. He was born 36+6 and We spent the first week in hospital due to jaundice, we are home and I have anxiety about just leaving him with his dad/ future husband to even go an get a shower or anything that lasts longer than a few minutes. I get emotional and tearful at the thought. Is this normal?!
Thanks

I think all sorts of anxiety is normal, common and very understandable when you have a newborn baby especially one with a slightly rocky start.

You're probably exhausted, shell shocked and finding life at home without midwives and drs around very strange.

I would see how you feel in a few days. Be really kind to yourself and try to get some rest.

Can you make yourself go for a shower? Or is it too unbearable? if baby is asleep?

Normal! you are exhausted. Take the baby and go to bed with a box set. maybe for a few days and sleep!

Congratulations on your new baby!

Anxiety can go into overdrive during pregnancy and after birth. I always tried to see it as a positive thing about connection and love and wanting to be close. 10 days is so very soon so don’t put pressure on yourself. Could you ask your partner to be in the room with your son whilst you shower? And then gradually build up to being apart for short periods of time?
Best of luck

Totally normal! It will wear off. Talk to your partner. Congratulations!

Thanks for all your support. Think I'm expecting so much from myself so soon. X
