Baths after c section and other questions

Had a ELCS last Tuesday eve so on day 6 currently. Scar is looking great, midwives say it's the neatest they've ever seen and I'm feeling good too , been doing the nursery run on foot,supermarket shopping etc.

I was wondering when I can have a bath and also what the protocol is with driving , I asked the midwife re:driving and they just said to check with insurance (who don't mind what I do!).
Any tips ?

Not fussed about baths so can't help there, but I thinkni was driving within something like 10 days of my section. If you can do an emergency stop and insurance are ok then go for it.

My issue was always that I still couldn't go out alone as I couldn't carry dd in her car seat.

Why not google this? There are lots of threads about baths after c sections. Ask your midwife?

Driving - you have to be able to do an emergency stop. 6 weeks is advised.

I had a c section too, I had a baths but not too hot, and I had my partner to help me in and out as I was so sore, as for driving probably best to wait 6 weeks as that's what they advise, also it's really good that your up and about but please be careful you don't over do it, I felt like I was recovered and did loads but I wasn't and felt awful for it with pains etc congratulations on your little one xxx

I took it slowly after first section and built up (I walk a lot) but went at things too quirky second time as op was ‘better’ so felt way less pain- initially. Plus I had a two year old and additional care commitments. That was an error. Take it easy.
If your insurance are happy you’re covered but if you did have to emergency stop you’d be in a world of pain.
Some people do do brilliantly doing lots quickly but there are so many variables why risk it? That said I do think it’s important to get moving as quick as poss post op which I only mention incase it’s relevant to others.

My insurance said if I can do an emergency stop, I’m insured. Was driving after 10 days but had an amazing recovery. Can’t help with baths as I’m a shower person

Thanks all, I also have a 2 year old and caring for my mum but do have my partner around full time too so not too bad.

I got a bath 7-10 days after my c section. Until the heavy lochia(sp?) started again. I don’t drive personally but i’ve been told aslong as you can perform an emergency stop you should be okay.

I had baths pretty much straight away as I have a heavy dressing on over my waterproof one and soaking was the only way to get it off! I recommend putting some salt on your bath to aid the healing process
