Hello,

I'm 29 and on maternity leave with my 6 month old. I went to my new GP today to request setraline for preparation for going to work in January. Setraline because it is apparently safest medication while breastfeeding. I have longstanding anxiety for which I've been treated with antidepressants on/off over the years and propranolol since 2010 until I fell pregnant. I've also had CBT many years ago, alongside propranolol and had to continue taking the medication after talking therapy. My GP has advised to self refer into talking therapies after which medication would be considered. I didn't expect this considering my history and I feel pretty helpless. I can function on a day to day basis, but struggle socially. The problem is i have a high stress job. Propranolol got me through university and the first year of work. When I fell pregnant and stopped my meds, I was having panic attacks at work, braving it out but barely coping. I explained that without medication it's unlikely I'll be able to function at work. I know I'll end up in the sick. Im going to self refer in for therapy, Im just so worried I'm running out of time and It's going to get to the point where I won't be able to return as planned. I'm even considering going back to my old GP if that's possible. Anybody else had a similar situation?
