I had my daughter on 3rd September, and have been using condoms with my partner, I’ve had light spotting but no period yet, I have done two pregnancy tests which came back negative.. I am also exclusively formula feeding.. any ideas?

Sounds normal. Took 3 months for af to return when I had DD.

It can take a while for them to come back even if you're not breastfeeding. With my first it didn't come back until 3 months after birth and I formula fed.

I think that's quite normal isn't it?

cowssheephens Sat 28-Oct-17 19:01:36

I never had a period, as I was pregnant.

You had a baby 6 weeks ago and your having sex?

ArcheryAnnie Sat 28-Oct-17 19:15:00

It took two years for my period to return after having my DS.

KadabrasSpoon Sat 28-Oct-17 19:17:36

Normal. The spotting could be the last bits of lochia, it can go on a while.

Normal. I didn’t bf and it took 6 months for my period to return.

Totally normal. I ebfd and didn't get a period until I started weaning ds at 6 months. Bit gutted tbh! I'm still bfing now and not having any more babies to periods can do one afaic.

MamaOfTwos Sat 28-Oct-17 19:33:32

Took 8 months for me to get anything (breast feeding)

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay Sat 28-Oct-17 19:43:31

Sounds like your body is just getting back to normal. If your getting negative tests and your being super cautious with condoms you won't be pregnant.

Maybe lay off the sex for a bit and make sure your body is completely healed. You only had a baby 8 weeks ago remember.

Same as PP, though I was BF. It was 8 months before mine came back.

cheminotte Sat 28-Oct-17 21:22:00

Enjoy it while it lasts. Totally normal.

amymel2016 Sat 28-Oct-17 21:24:42

Totally normal, mine took 4 months and was FF

WindyOutThere Sat 28-Oct-17 21:27:16

I had a baby a few days before you and I’m currently on my period so I wouldn’t worry.
Also, yes it’s perfectly normal for people to have sex 6 weeks after having a baby! hmmI’m perfectly healed thank you very much!!

RatRolyPoly Sun 29-Oct-17 11:56:25

Baffles me as to why anyone would give the unsolicited advice to lay off sex just because you had a baby six weeks ago. But hey, you have a kid now, EVERYONE is going to be giving you unsolicited advice!

FuzzyOwl Sun 29-Oct-17 11:58:26

I know it happens but it is much more unusual to have a period again that soon after giving birth, regardless of how you feed.

BikeRunSki Sun 29-Oct-17 12:00:49

Normal, I ff DS from a week old and period came back after 3 months. DD was dd from 3 weeks, period came back after 6 months.

Migraleve Sun 29-Oct-17 12:04:26

You had a baby 6 weeks ago and your having sex?
hmm it is perfectly normal to be doing so

As it is normal also to not see your period for some months

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup Sun 29-Oct-17 16:58:10

Why the raised eyebrow at having sex after 6 weeks?

Migraleve Sun 29-Oct-17 17:32:31

Why the raised eyebrow at having sex after 6 weeks?

I think you misread that. The raised eyebrow was at the pp who made a dog about having sex after 6 weeks. Not because of it.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup Sun 29-Oct-17 18:56:51

That's what I meant-the poster that couldn't believe anyone would use their bits again grin

holdthewine Sun 29-Oct-17 19:29:51

Migraleve shaking with laughter at your “made a dog” typo totally misses point of thread

holb93 Sun 29-Oct-17 21:25:29

Thank you all. I don’t see a problem with having sex????!!
